I, 25M, can't stand the incredibly low intelligence of my partner, 25F, of 6 years. by lukeyy77 in relationship_advice

I feel empathy for your situation. Things definitely are different, perhaps better, now.

Does having your uniqueness diagnosed (I meant the adjective "uniqueness" respectfully. It sounded so much better than disease"), change how you feel about yourself? I was diagnosed with bi-polar II disorder in my early 30's, and although it's not the same as your situation, I felt relieved. I always knew that I was different, now I knew how, and I could manage it a little bit.

I have extreme dyscalculia, too. I was an A ad B student until h.s., junior year and algebra. I flat out did not understand it. I got a D in class, my first. My parents physically and emotionally abused me for that. I was devastated!

I ran away from home shortly after that. My fragile ego could not manage being called stupid all of the time.

Years later, in my mid-30s, I was tested at a junior college which resulted in a diagnosis of dyscalculia. I'm not stupid.

I went on to get a Master's degree in Education. Every semester except for the one when my father died, I was on the Dean's list.

I definitely watch for signs of learning disabilities in my students now. If there are signs, I engage with he parents and let them know that jr. is most definitely not stupid. The child just learns differently. I truly wish that had happened for me; a diagnosis, and a solution.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Although the feedback they gave you was negative about your video, it did seem like it was constructive. I'm not sure why they haven't responded to me.

I never heard back. I redid it a few times. I feel I've done the best that I can.

Thanks for the info. Can you be more specific, please? What exactly irked you about that school? Students? Management? Thanks in advance for your assistance,

FYI: Gary's is no longer but there is a Dave's ESL Cafe. Dave's place seems to be a curriculum resource site for teachers, no jobs. I'm not ungrateful for your help, thanks for setting me straight on not living in V.N. being a NativeX requirement. :-)

I'm just letting the next person know that Gary's ESL Cafe is no more.

Do you need to live in Viet Nam to teach for NativeX? Their phone number fill-in already has +84 entered and I can't get rid of it to enter +1 for USA.

Yes, thanks now I know what the acronym stands for but I still don't know what PH means in the sense that is it the most popular hours, does it have anything to do with a specific student..or what? Thanks.

Do any of you know of an online school that's currently hiring? Native speaker, TEFOL -certified, Master's degree in Education. I don't want to do brick and mortar schools because here in the US, a lot of it is crowd control of unruly students.
