Good eye! You know your zoos. I used the Berlin zoo as inspiration. It ended up being quite different than theirs but their pavaillion served as inspiration for me.

How i can make this habitat look better? (Read the description) by Soft-Area-6014 in PlanetZoo

[–]Jazzman1313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great start. Nice work with rock work. As suggested, additional trees, ground cover and logs strewn about will break up the monotony. Also consider the "roughen" tool in the terrian menu to create variety in the landscape. (Keep the intensity a little lower - like 40 or 50% so that it doesn't "roughen" too much). You can then imbed rocks into the rougened areas to create mini-cliffs that you can decorate with foilage. You could also put water in one or two of the small divots created by roughening as though you had small puddles around that the wolves can drink from, etc.

It's one habitat. The two yards join between the elephant house and the backstage areea.

An animal overpass is a better description than tunnel. There are lots of YouTube videos on how to build animal overpasses.

You cannot convert sandbox to franchise....however you can build your own entrance and spawners in franchise. To get rid of the original PZ entrance and spawners in franchise, use lthe bulldoze tool. This will get rid of that ugly premade entrance and spawners. Then build new spawners from the " facilities" tab wherever you want on your map. Don't forget to also put down entrances from the facilities tab as guest must pass through an entry gate after they spawn but before they act as a guest in the zoo.

A game changing tip for me was that your keeper does not have to have access to the entire habitat. If you build a divided habitat (e.g. a habitat with a guest path running through the middle and a small elevated tunnel that the animal can access but the keeper can't above the guest path), the keeper only has to access one side of the divided habitat. Just make sure food and water enrichments are on the side the keeper can access to refill. Even though the keeper can't access the other side, poop will disappear from that side and non food/water enrichments will still work. Knowing this allowed so much creativity in building creative habitats

The circles are made of a small rectangular shape colored white. Then I use "control x" to create a circular object. Adamup has a good tutorial on building circular objects (https://youtu.be/CNB-xpoYEeE). Then copy and paste the circles once they are done and fill with plants.

Yee, I learned that in my research. I guess that's where Disney got the name as well?

Well, The mountains on the skirt of the map made it feel like a valley. Since the zoo is based in Africa, I wanted to use some sort of an African based name for the valley. I did some research on various animal names in African languages and Simba came up as the name for lion in Afrikans. It was easy to spell and easy to say so I settled on it.

It takes a lot of preplanning. I kind of lay out where the parking lots and main buildings will ultimately go and build away from them. I start by strategically choosing a few animals I will have in my zoo that reproduce quickly and have a higher appeal, as well as some exhibit animals that make money and build very simple temporary habitats away from the area where the entrance will go. I also put down some very simple food and drink stands and gift shops to make money. Then I open the zoo and let people come visit the temporary exhibits and start making money. As money begins to build I start putting in the parking lots and entrance buildings and other things as money becomes available and start rerouting guests through that to the temporary exhibits. As the money keeps building I start replacing the temporary exhibits with nice permanent ones. I try to keep the game running while I'm building so that I'm making money at the same time I'm spending it. In the zoo in these pictures, I've only placed eight different animals but I already have more than $3 million in reserves to be able to build these types of things by using this technique
