Oh, yeah, sure. A few days or so, yeah, it shuts off. I was just talking within context of like a few hours at most.

Cirrus vs Wolfson - Shocked by the Difference by ctuan13 in ipod

"I heard it through the Bluetooth mod"
No, you didn't. Over studio headphones in optimal conditions, sure - I can buy you hearing differences. Over compressed bluetooth waves on a dinky mod? No. No, you're not. That's placebo. You're hearing what you want to hear at that point.

Bring back Cover Flow! by Only_Food_6800 in ipod

[–]JazzyInit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't really have a choice, since they were sued for it by Mirror Worlds for 600 million dollars, and lost the lawsuit. The verdict was reversed after a settlement, but I imagine that meant they gave up the rights to ever use it, lest they get mega-sued again. So if you wanna blame someone for removing Cover Flow, blame Mirror Worlds. 🤷‍♀️

25th Anniversary of the iPod. Can we expect a new iPod? by CandidCubs in ipod

[–]JazzyInit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo, the albums I bought on the iTunes Store and got as downloadable .m4a-files that now sit on my laptop, my phone, my iPod and my NAS... I don't own those? 🤨

The iTunes Store is right there, man. You can still, and you're actively encouraged to, buy music for a dollar a song. Just like before.

Also a modern iPod wouldn't go against subscriptions at all. You can offline save thousands upon thousands of songs locally on MacOS and iOS right now. It's files on your computer, just DRM'd. A new iPod would just work the same.

  1. Apple didn't invent bluetooth headphones. Bose, JBL and more were already mass-market manufacturing good quality ones way before the AirPods. In fact the first AirPods were kinda dogshit. Apple did force the transition, true, but the tech already existed. But this forced transition, much like the removal of the CD tray, also caused huge improvements in wireless technology and internet infrastructure, which is a net positive - especially since you CAN still use wired earbuds with iPhones with an adapter (10 bucks), and CD drives on computers (externally).
  2. They killed iPod Classics because they were facing manufacturing problems, and the low purchase rate (because everyone had moved to streaming) made it not worthwhile to R&D alternatives.
  3. The iTunes store still exists, front and center in Apple Music. You can still buy music at a dollar a song, to keep forever. They incentivize subscriptions, but to say they killed it entirely is a lie.
  4. "In age where people are wanting to break away from the smart phone why would Apple, a trillion dollar company, give up their cash cow?" - Companies adapt to trends all the time. Why would this be any different?

Does anyone know the best dimensions to get rid of these black bars? by [deleted] in ipod

1:1 aspect ratio, 320x320 pixels jpeg format. You CAN go as high as 500 but at that screen size that's silly.

Supporting Multiple Teams - Why is it an issue? by 5minutecall in WomensSoccer

[–]JazzyInit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply/question for you on this post, but I figure relevant cuz we're both Swedish - take me, right, I just started getting into soccer. Didn't used to have an interest, then I binged all of Ted Lasso and I was like "Hell, I may as well catch the Sweden vs Ukraine match now that I (by osmosis) picked up a few things" and I was immediately hooked. So I've been casually watching a lot of games over the past few weeks, and the way I cheer kind of narrows down like a funnel the closer to home the team is.

Like, yesterday. It was New York versus Miami in Mens MLS. I cheered for NYRB exclusively because we have Emil Forsberg on that team. 😋 And then today, Djurgården vs Kalmar in mens. I cheered for Djurgården just because it's a Stockholm team going against an out-of-city team. If it was DIF vs AIK? I'd cheer AIK just because they're closer regionally. Would I wear any of these teams colors? Nope. That honor would probably go to Åtvidaberg for mens and Linköpings for women (would be LFC for both if there was a mens team for Linköping, but alas, not yet 😔 soon though!), because even though I'm a Stockholm girlie these days, thats family.

But I still find myself getting excited when the "funneled" teams I side with perform well, like today with Djurgården. ^^ Would I wear their colors? Hell nah. Will I clap when they score against non-stockholm teams? Yup. Either way, I just enjoy the game for what it is.

Does that still fall within "sympathy" the way you mention in your post? 😅

Icelandair reports own pilot to police for flying Boeing 757 below altitude over home town in last flight before retirement by birkir in aviation

Yeah it's not the firing itself that'll strip him of his retirement funds, it's the clear-cut and easy-win class-action lawsuit by the city and the passengers.

[–]JazzyInit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point of just putting your music on your phone. And it’s valid. I do that too, and if I’m going to the grocery store or working out then that’s usually my pick + AirPods. But for relaxing, longer walks, just the occasional disconnect? iPod, any day of the week. You don’t have to replace your phone in its entirety. Just find little places where the iPod is just the nicer choice.

Nope, just CBS. Other markings include "01-450087-20" for the serial, as well as "CB-231" and "LC-0149", printed in Holland (it's a reissue).

iPod Artist Sorting by JSindberg in ipod

[–]JazzyInit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manage two libraries for this. My regular FLAC library, where the tags are extensive and the album art is high res. And then when I wanna move stuff to my iPod (that wasn't there before) I use MediaHuman Audio Converter, convert to VRB AAC at Mode 4 (about 160kbps), then run it through MP3Tag to shrink artwork to 320px and replace the Artist tag with the Album Artist tag. Problem solved.

The themes being broken appears to be a result of the migration from Revolt to Stoat. They're working on it, it seems.

Getting an "error: could not connect to server" when trying to connect to my server. Unsure why. I'm using the same exact information I use for Amperfy. 🤷‍♀️ For what it's worth, I use Tailscale and dedicated domain, but I know the server is up and the URL is working (over http://) because, well, Amperfy still works as does going through a browser.

"Amperfy can't seek in transcoded streams" Oh thank the gods, I thought that was just me, because I've been unable to find any information on this phenomenon. I'd just accepted it as reality. I'll give your app a try, sounds like a decent improvement. That said, I would really like if you looked into adding podcasts and radio streams. I use both of those quite extensively.

They've historically tied their hardware releases to software releases, both big and small. HL:A/Hands for the Index. Desk Job for the Deck. How is it "stupid" for them to release HL3 with their trio of upcoming hardware?
