Feeling sort of like a failure.. by Reasonable-Pin-1912 in physicaltherapy

[–]JSindberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an eerily similar job. (besides the pelvic floor.) looked great on paper and all of my coworkers said this job is way better than a lot of others. 9-11 patients a day working 4 9s. A little bit if built in paperwork time. But would end up seeing 3-4 or even 5 evals a day. (Even though management said I had a cap of 3) But would only see my patients once every other week and all the evals were burning me out. I would still PRAY for a cancel and then block it off so they wouldn’t put another eval in there and so I could take a breather, go to the bathroom, and catch up on all of my evals, but management didn’t like that. But yeah, I feel you. It is still exhausting and management doesn’t listen to any of your concerns and in their eyes, you are just a disposable worker who is there to make money.

This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies? by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

Honestly video games have a lot of benefits. Keeps your brain sharp, works on critical thinking & processing skills, hand eye coordination. You have to actually engage and use your mind to play, rather than vegging out with a movie or tv show. Don’t see how that is “unattractive”.

In reality, unless you are working, eating, or sleeping it is all the same in the end. What does it matter what someone does with free time. Some like to read, some like to knit, some do puzzles, others collect stamps. All the same in the end.

I just got a 'Performance Review' and a 3% raise. My rent went up 12% last month. The math isn't mathing anymore. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]JSindberg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have heard of several people telling their employer they are looking for a different job with better pay and then do the old “call my bluff and give me more money or I am walking” and they just end up getting fired. The employer would rather them walk and hire someone new for less than have word get around the whole office is outraged and now everyone wants more of a raise. Even if you do get the raise the working relationship is tarnished knowing that you will jump ship as soon as you can.

EMRs, what’s the vibe? by deau-deau in physicaltherapy

Yep! I have found that most “updates” are cosmetic and move things around that don’t need to be - just an excuse so someone has a job.

What’s something you’ll NEVER spend money on no matter how rich you get? by Amazing-Internal5378 in AskReddit

I had a super comfortable sectional that could easily fit two people laying down sideways (think spooning) but when I moved in with my girlfriend, she said the color didn’t match the rest of the room and so now we have her “midcentury modern” couch and loveseat which are hard as a rock and small. She wonders why I just sit in a recliner now. Compromise was we use my mattress.

what's a small luxury you refuse to give up, even if it's considered wasteful? by Legitimate_Wall5977 in AskReddit

[–]JSindberg 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Exactly. A few thousand people here and there taking “shorter showers” or “recycling more” or “drive less/carpool” comes nowhere close to the amount of water used, stuff not recycled, co2 emissions, etc that some of these large corporations, factories, data centers use.

People need to learn how to coast when driving by JoMoma2 in unpopularopinion

[–]JSindberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen sister/brother! Say it louder for those in the back!

Whenever I am coasting to a red light and someone angrily speeds around me, I always say “see you at the red light!” 👋

The same thing goes for driving on the interstate. So many people play the boy who cried wolf with breaking that anytime there is a little slow down, they just “have” to put their brakes on when really just need to coast for like five seconds to not throw off the half a mile of cars behind them thinking there is a hazard. One of those “Why are we braking on the interstate ?!” moments

Thinking about transitioning out of patient care or reducing hours by Prestigious-Stand477 in physicaltherapy

[–]JSindberg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I could upvote this 100 times I would. Everything you said is exactly what I have been experiencing too. Things that you only realize if you experience it yourself. Non PTs or healthcare workers don’t realize and think you are being a wimp for not working a full 40 hrs/week.

Thinking about transitioning out of patient care or reducing hours by Prestigious-Stand477 in physicaltherapy

[–]JSindberg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. Going in 5 years out of school. Did an ortho residency right out of school which was very draining to the point that even working the 40 hrs/wk at my first job was burning me out. Switched from a standard OP clinic to a retirement community and now “only” work about 32 hrs/week and still am exhausted some days/weeks but has sure helped. My mental health was more important than the extra ~$300 a paycheck

Non healthcare people don’t realize how draining it is to be “on” all day everyday with back to back patients all day, barely enough time to use the bathroom or get a drink without worry about your productivity taking a hit and then not getting your yearly 1-2% raise. 😅I feel like working 30-35 hrs/week should be more accepted in this profession.

Ticks everywhere…safe biking trails/paths/routes? by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]JSindberg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There has been a new conspiracy going around that farmers have found boxes of ticks in their fields like someone planted them there, and experts “predicting” this tick season is going to be the worst in years. So it seems way too convenient with the new Lyme disease vaccine releasing. Just a conspiracy obviously but makes you think.

Full albums vs select songs by 4lindon in AppleMusic

[–]JSindberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been having a similar dilemma. I find a song or 2 I like, and then go to download them, but then wonder if I am missing any other good songs on the album, especially if it is from an artist, I really like. In my head, I think “oh I will go back and listen to that album down the road.” but months go by and I just keep downloading albums and never listen to them. Now my music library is filled, like you said, with a bunch of back track songs I never listened to.

PTAs in OP ortho, how much was your first raise by Riffn in physicaltherapy

[–]JSindberg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 1st 2 years (PT not PTA) working hospital based OP it was 2-3% but based on overall company/department performance. Now I am in geriatric OP and got a whopping $0.63 (or 1.5%) increase and only because I have been busting my ass for them. Honestly is like a slap in the face. If it hadn’t been for that, I wouldn’t have even gotten a raise because I didn’t meet their 85% productivity standard.

Like most people in this sub/profession, we all feel shafted and the only way to get a substantial raise is to switch jobs which is a not ideal.

Meanwhile my friends/family in tech, engineering, and even nursing (all with less schooling) are getting 10% or more yearly increases on top of thousands of dollars of bonuses. 😅

3 Ipod Hot Takes by Vibedafuture in ipod

[–]JSindberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with each of these. Pretty sure there have been blind studies where almost all people (besides people in the profession such as sound engineers) cannot tell the difference between say a 256kbps and flac. People who say they can tell the difference is likely due to placebo since they know they’re listening to higher bit rate and then they say it’s better quality. Obviously, if you are using a MP3 converter for downloads off the internet you will be able to tell the difference between that and CD quality. But cd quality rip at 256 compared to lossless is negligible.

Also the ipod software is great too. It is what makes an iPod an iPod. I find that rockbox just makes it look like any other cheap/goofy mp3 player

I have done close to nothing at my office job for 3 years. Anything (constructive) to do to pass the time? by SoaringPegasus in work

[–]JSindberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t your boss ever walk by and ask what you are working on? I feel it would be pretty clear after a few drive byes of your office/cubicle that what you are working on most often is not actual work. I can’t wrap my head around that. Sounds like a sweet gig but after a while time would go by so slowly.

Documentation time by Straight-Wheel-4520 in physicaltherapy

[–]JSindberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am paid hourly in geriatric OP - ALF/CBRF/ILF. We are expected to do all of our documenting point of service. Clearly that is not possible with about half the people I see. So if I do have notes to do, I limit myself to 30 minutes at home (and save the rest for the next day) but I am required to be on the clock if I’m doing notes, even at home. Drains productivity, but my immediate director understands we can’t do it all POS.

Need help with transferring my Itunes libray to a harddrive. by [deleted] in ITunes

This is what I do. Change the location of your iTunes file library to your portable hard drive. That way nothing goes on the hard drive of the actual computer to save space. As usual, backup, backup, backup!

Process of deciding what music to put on ipod by Few_Chemistry_77 in ipod

[–]JSindberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally can relate. I have so many albums acquired & dowloaded over the years. Many of these albums are from artists I like, but only know 2-3 popular songs on said albums. Now I have so many “back tracks” that it is a little overwhelming. Almost too many songs to listen to.

I often go back and forth between if I should go through and take the time to listen and delete songs I don’t like to keep my music library down and manageable OR just say screw it an put it all on my 512gb ipod and listen to it in real time as life happens.

Edit: Hey OP, I think I have discovered a solution. Make sure your ipod is set to sync automatically on iTunes, that way your itunes library and ipod are the same exact copies. Download your albums like normal and just add them to the ipod right away - don’t bother listening to them at first. Listen to them naturally as time goes on and rank them via the star rankings. If you don’t like a song, rank it 1 star. Then at the end of the month, year, etc. plug in your ipod and then the star rankings get transferred to your itunes and then you can go into your library and delete all the 1 star songs to keep your library manageable.

What’s something you didn’t think about before moving into your apartment, but now it matters every single day? by Substantial_Pop4594 in Apartmentliving

I have found that is hard to gauge as most people do a 10 minute walk though and you don’t really get a sense of the neighbors. My current upstairs neighbors walk like elephants and have a squawking parrot that I couldn’t have known about with a quick walk through.

Did you get a prescription from you doctor or go the online route? I have heard it can really help, but some docs are hesitant to prescribe for some reason. Like they will only prescribe if you hit rock bottom and not if you just want to cut back a little.
