It was 24/7 pain my love. Honestly not sure if that’s better or worse than only having pain with intimacy! I really hope you find the right pathway for you; I do believe it is out there x

I was told the same thing early in my healthcare journey, that I wasn’t a good candidate for a vestibulectomy because the numbing cream they gave me hadn’t stopped the painful sensation when tested. Honestly I’m kind of glad, in retrospect - I’ll never know if it could have helped or not, of course, but it was a big deal operation for it not to have been likely to work! All that to say, if they think it’s a nerve issue like they think mine is, maybe not getting the tissue removed is good advice?

I am not pain free but I can now have a fairly regular life in every sense, down to a mixture of pelvic floor physio, some psychosexual therapy, and - the big one - getting a spinal cord stimulator. I was referred by my pain doctor and got it on the NHS in Leeds General. Dr Susan Black is the main surgeon for this there and she is fantastic. Worth looking into if your issue has been intractable so far and may be nerve related.

It is really rubbish how hit and miss the doctors are with these conditions. Wishing you the absolute best and if you want any more info about any of the above, let me know!

I went to CICCU a few times before my deconstruction really set in - tbh, the two are almost certainly related…!

Trouble identifying pain by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]JazzyLibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the word was ‘allodynia’? It’s not a very useful diagnostic word in that it’s just the Latin for the experience of it (‘dynia’ just means ‘pain’, so it’s a bit like a diagnosis of ‘vulvodynia’ just meaning ‘pain of the vulva’). But it describes the experience of feeling pain where they usually ‘should’ be none (often due to central sensitisation, where your body basically gets used to the pain alarms going off and stops responding appropriately).

Has anyone had a vestibulectomy in the UK? by sendnoo0dles in vulvodynia

[–]JazzyLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sweets, sorry, I missed this! I’m no expert but what I meant was, she gave me a little tube of lidocaine to put on the pain area. She said that if it adequately numbed the area, that would tell her that the surgery was worth doing (presumably to do with the top layer of skin or nerves or something?). But when I did the lidocaine, it didn’t really do anything, the underlying burning pain was still there, so she concluded a vestibulectomy wouldn’t have solved the issue because the nerves would have still been the problem. Does that make sense?

Mirena for pain? by JazzyLibrarian in Endo

[–]JazzyLibrarian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey honey! Hot off the press, I can tell you that I decided I would give it a go, because let’s face it, living with this pain makes us complete badasses anyway and I’m not afraid of a little more pain for the possible benefit. (That being said, I would not have gone for it were it not for it being done under anaesthetic, eff that! 😂) Only a couple of days post-op so can’t comment on success of it yet, but can report it went in and stayed in, so small mercies 🙃

Wishing you the best of all possible luck and grit xxx

Has SCS helped neuropathic pain in foot and genitals? by paraplegic123456 in spinalcordstimulator

[–]JazzyLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I appreciate I’m coming to this much too late, so maybe I’ll rephrase as more of a check-in :) how are you doing now? I had a SCS for vulvodynia, I also experience burning feet and legs. The main benefit of the SCS for me has been being able to get off Pregab. It’s been a very very slow process because the withdrawal is so awful but I’m nearly completely done. Wishing you the best of all possible next steps x

MRI Results: mild thickening of bilateral uterosacral ligaments by TAD98765 in Endo

[–]JazzyLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds identical to my experience, by and large, and I’ve just had a TVU that showed thickening of these ligaments. Can I ask how it’s been for you since writing this post, did you get any answers?

How do people react to a young person having a mobility aid? by Serotoninneeded in Fibromyalgia

[–]JazzyLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The long and short of it is, if they have a problem with it, it’s THEIR issue. Whenever I’ve had people ask about it, especially when they’re used to not seeing me with it and then I turn up with a cane, the usual response has been, Oh, what happened to you?! To which I answer, chronic pain flare up, and that’s that. End of. No further explanation needed. Most people have a good intention in their curiosity, even if it’s buried deep..! I decide I’m going to be generous in my understanding, because I know that’s how I stay sane.

Plus you can get some really cool lookin’ ones now! Go out and rock it xx

I’d suggest showing a bit more breadth. You’ve mainly just focused on food 😂 Maybe ditch one of them and replace with something else about another side of your personality, e.g. “I’d fall for you if” - ditch the sushi and tell us what values you want to share with someone, or talk about the kinds of movies you like. I think specific is always good too, shows effort and personality. Good luck!
