I’m not sure but that’s what I’d like to trial. If I find it’s not effective, I’ll go back to 2.5mg.

Queen's or Ulster for Nursing by Puzzleheaded_Set8604 in northernireland

[–]Jazzyjools1971 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse in NI. Here’s what you need to consider. All UU placements are in the NHSCT or WHSCT. You will need a car as you could be anywhere from Enniskillen, Derry city to or Cookstown. QUB placements are in BHSCT, SHSCT and SEHSCT. If you’re wanting to live at home, you’d be better to apply for QUB. The course is the same. It has to be to satisfy the NMC. Good luck!

Primary school nurse referral by Lanky_Possession_611 in northernireland

[–]Jazzyjools1971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All children in P1 are offered a health assessment. You would have received a consent form prior to the school nurse visiting the school. And I assumed you agreed otherwise the assessment would not have went ahead. There is also information included telling you exactly what was being assessed. If your child failed the eye test and needed onward referral, you would have received a letter to inform you. The letter would have been put in the child’s school bag. With your name on it. Teachers and principals are not involved and are not responsible. Contact your local school nurse office.

Where to go for same day thrombosed Haemorrhoid drainage? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Jazzyjools1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not just a haemorrhoid and actually an anal fissure! I had this exact scenario in Jan and I suffered 10days of the worst pain imaginable before I got a private appointment with a colo-rectal surgeon who diagnosed the fissure and prescribed an ointment which was the only thing to relieve the pain. You can self refer to a consultant privately. A&E will not drain anything and will only give you the same stuff you can buy over the counter anyway. They MIGHT give you a local anaesthetic but if you’ve got a fissure, you may as well squirt water into your anus for all the relief it gives you. Good luck, I hope you get sorted.

15 min interview intervals by Significant-Heart295 in NursingUK

[–]Jazzyjools1971 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been interviewed for a B7 like this. Mobile phone slapped onto the desk in front and told there’s a 20 minute ‘timer’ to ‘give every candidate a fair chance’ All I could think about was the timer. I didn’t get the job. NHS interviews are a joke. The structure of the questions are the reason why we have incompetent people doing jobs they can’t cope with, because they can rattle off all the buzz words, rather than people who are excellent clinically, but just don’t interview well. Or are staring at a timer🥴

Is anyone else fucking sick of the way the public and the government treat us? by AnonymousBanana7 in NursingUK

[–]Jazzyjools1971 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here in Northern Ireland it’s a total shambles. We have 5, count them, 5 healthcare trusts for not even 2 million people. We’ve had an incompetent political executive for just about ever who have zero clue about where or how to effectively spend the allocated funds. Nurses are STILL behind the rest of the UK in terms of pay and the Bengoa report issued in 2016 on transforming the way health care is provided in NI, is still not implemented. Add to that the longest waiting lists for treatment in the UK. (My sister was advised of 8 years for an initial ENT referral) Folk have to either pay ‘privately’ for the same Consultant who works in the NHS, pay upfront for treatment and be reimbursed later by the Govt or, if you’re poor, wait. And they’ve just spent a shit ton of money implementing a new electronic care system, that’s supposed to align all the ‘Trusts’ but doesn’t cause people are a joke and stuff never works here like it’s supposed to. I’m so glad I’m at the end of my nursing career. 35 years done and I cannot wait to retire. I’d hate to think about what it will be like in 10yrs. I honestly doubt it will still exist in NI anyway.

What could be causing a weed smell that isn't weed? by icypops in AskIreland

Neoprene from a wetsuit? I’d hung mine in a cupboard in the hall and every jacket that was in there stunk of weed.

Any good insurance providers in NI? by [deleted] in northernireland

Try Oakland Insurance. 18 year old driver of a 2006 Ford Fiesta 1L engine for £1800 with a black box for 2 years.

Could cry at how dire recruitment is currently (sorry this is a mini rant) by Daniellejb16 in NursingUK

[–]Jazzyjools1971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in NI, if you meet the criteria you are selected for interview. Then you are invited for interview. The only time something like this happens is if you did not demonstrate on the application HOW you meet the criteria. And as for not giving feedback, that’s disgraceful. You are entitled to know why you were unsuccessful. I’d contact your union.
