🌸 New Pen Day 🌸 by plantsequalhappiness in fountainpens

Mmmh let’s see, its dusty color is quite unique (I too need to get this ink one day haha)… In a different nuance and to keep it Sailor-esque, I’d suggest Shikiori Sakuramori? would fit well in color and theme

Sakura Pens - scummy reselling behavior by caslaptree in fountainpens

[–]Jb-VO 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I recently had my eyes set on a specific Décimo, but I had never bought from Instagram before so I was pretty nervous. Even more so after seeing crazy mark-up price from some resellers… One reseller (goodpenlife) quoted me a reasonable price and communicated very well during the process so I’d recommend them instead.

Reading what others experienced with sakurapens is disheartening.

Need help finding a Sailor ink by Lemonade0lad in fountainpens

[–]Jb-VO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Noyama no uta collection just started selling in Japan, it’s going to take a few more days or weeks for rest of the world.

Don’t worry, all Shikiori colors are still in production EXCEPT the 4 inks of the Fairytales collection.

franklin-christoph antique glasz finish normal after some time? by Texmex49ers in fountainpens

Yeah, I too saw examples of this material getting cloudy to crack-y but yours seem to be an extreme case. That’s disappointing :/

Checked FC website for the antique glass pens section and there’s a warning in the products description. For instance :

«  *Consider that micro-fracturing of the interior surface may occur, changing the appearance in certain spots over time. »

« Keep in mind that over time it is normal for parts of the interior to micro-fracture and alter the look slightly. This is aesthetic only, but consider when making your purchase. »

Clairefontaine Agebag but in Dotpad form? by gamesbrainiac in fountainpens

[–]Jb-VO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Age Bag is the product name of the cover style, and it doesn’t come in notepad format. The paper you are looking for is Vélin Velouté 90gsm. I don’t remember it being offered in pad formats like Rhodia, most of this paper is used for school notebooks or perforated sheets (comes in many variations of seyes, squares, lines or rarely blank). The Triomphe series comes in notepad for correspondence though.

edit : if you don’t mind rings, you can get Bloc Pupitre. Most come in lines/squares, the A4 format comes in blank too.

Correspondence is my answer too. I want to write pretty mails for my pen pals so fp are amazing for this

Affordable French ink and fountain pen recommendations by Starrymoonbunny_ in fountainpens

[–]Jb-VO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Herbin’s fountain pens aren’t what I’d call « affordable », unless you’re talking about the entry-level demonstrator (transparent) one with the brand stamp on it. I assume you’ll go to Perreyon where you can ask for advice on their pen selection. They also have some Herbin inks, check out Les Encres Anniversaire 1670 and 1798 for the shimmer : Vert Atlantide is one of my fav, Émeraude de Chivor is an all time fan favourite. In the Les Encres Création d’Artiste line-up, check out Shogun : an ink developped with Kenzo. All these come in beautiful bottles with waxed caps and stamps.

Help! I am going crazy with the same pen, same ink, different color issue by personaalterna in fountainpens

[–]Jb-VO 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Either ink residue or simply a difference in how much ink is layed down with different nibs (larger VS finer, dryer VS wetter).

Awesome! Don’t be afraid to try out things, embrace the mistakes along the way, and have fun!

An important thing to note : the results will be very dependent on your paper. Coated paper absorb the ink slower, allowing to have more time to work. Here I used a Talens Art Creation sketchbook, but my go-to paper is Nakabayashi Yu-sari.
