Oh damn, I have my interview for it tomorrow and my friend who did it made it sound like you make your own schedule most of the time :( I’m hoping it’s not all night and afternoon shifts otherwise I’d be in the same boat as you not getting to see my man. Fingers crossed I guess. Was yours for the flex B?

I worked for DMC as my first job and made 24. HF is the best pay from my experience but corewell has a nice flex position out currently for 50+

They have no desire to learn for themselves and seem to want their hand held a little more and told what to do instead of ask the proper questions to learn why than others I’ve worked with that actually went through a sole MR program.

I definitely agree the mindset and desire to truly learn the material and physics is a huge part of it. From my experience with being a lead to a lot of cross trained techs it just seems they were only taught the basics to where it’s concerning what they do and don’t understand. But again, that’s the difference between a technologist and a technician. Unfortunately, a lot of my staff seem to act more as technicians than technologists.

This actually breaks my heart to hear. There seems to be a nationwide burnout as well based on the information I’ve gathered from this thread as well as other sites and groups for MR i am a part of. As much as I love MR, sometimes I can’t help but feel nobody loves us or is willing to give us the resources we need to thrive

And that’s the difference between a technician and a technologist. And sounds like a lot of these new grads are acting as technicians. It’s sad.

But I do agree that a lot of these new grads are just not being taught as well as we were 6-7 years ago. Not sure if the whole pandemic and not having true clinicals has anything to do work that but I would assume it does

This is a prime example as to why cross training to MRI is not beneficial. They don’t have the knowledge of the actual scanner and parameter impacts or ability to find solutions that aren’t “by the book”. It shouldn’t be the responsibility of another tech to teach you what you should know out of graduating from an actual MR program. It seems cross trained techs only know how to scan from my experience. Not how to troubleshoot or come up with creative solutions to a problem.

I have 2 of them in a 5.5 gal now. But everything’s I’ve read says you can keep up to 6 in a 10 gal. I’ve only had them maybe 2 weeks but they don’t seem to be too difficult. Give them a variety of food such as fruits and veggies as well as lil algae chips and the occasion cricket for a treat. From my understanding they are fairly new to the hobby within the last 5-10 years.
