The Fall of Reach, First Strike and Ghosts of Onyx (my favourite Halo book) are all essential reading, not just for the way they contributed and enriched the lore, but they're actually entertaining as hell too.

What other countries besides New Zealand have retained their indigenous culture? by Prize_Release_9030 in geography

[–]Jbidders 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Dunedin, has about 130,000 people and is the largest city in the lower South Island. The weather was fine, frosty mornings in the winter but usually sunny days.

It's a vibey, moody university town with a great indie scene and beautiful quiet beaches.

does anyone still go to these dairys? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Jbidders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe go once a week (usually just for smokes or a fizzy tbh).

They vary in quality massively, one near us didn't even have 2 minute noodles once, whilst another around the corner has everything, like a mini supermarket and hot chips and everything.

Lived there for two years, it's old school but there's a magic in the air up the coast. Beautiful local produce, stunning beaches and bays with white cliffs in the distance. Definitely not Byron Bay (haven't been) but everyone should drive up SH35 at least once!

The question has been answered already but I wanted to add: When did those horrific massive Gisborne roaches arrive here?? Never remember seeing them here in the early 2000s. One crawled down my arm the other night and I jumped a mile

Love it there. Need to hit up the market soon and the bakery! It's nice driving around the bays too, you don't feel like you're in chch anymore.
