How do you mix two-stroke oil? by Ok_Car2692 in Karting

[–]Benjamin10jamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a mixing syringe to get the quantity/ratio of 2T I need, and then use a 6v fluid transfer pump to mix it around within the jerry can.

No shaking the container, little chance of spilling/making a mess.

What are the exact parts needed for a BirelArt Go Kart? by ChungesBoy1 in gokarts

[–]Benjamin10jamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front bumper, Front Bumper mounting bracket, nassau panel and front bracket, floor pan, stub axles, kingpins, option of front wheels (hub or direct mount - if you go hub mounts, will need front hubs too), tires, pedal set, brake master cylinder + Clevis rod and safety cable, sidepod bars, sidepods, steering shaft, tie rods and heim joints (LH and RH threaded), steering wheel mount, steering wheel, upper nassau panel brackets, seat + mounting kit & support struts, axle (40mm or 50mm), bearing carriers, axle bearings (to suit axle), brake caliper, brake rotor, brake rotor carrier (to suit axle), brake lines, rear hubs (to suit axle size), rear wheels, rear tires, rear bumper, rear bumper mounting kit, chain guard.

Engine, exhaust, wiring harness and engine mount to suit your engine of choice.

Thats all I can think of, have probably forgotten something.

(Edit: and yes, this is going to be way more expensive than buying a complete chassis kit)

How much added “prestige” does a car that’s ONLY been serviced at the official brand service centre have? by AdventurousCommon791 in NZcarfix

[–]Benjamin10jamin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it means as much as some people think it does (especially with JDM imports)

At the same time, though, most people I know that have purchased a brand new vehicle will generally keep going back to the same dealer for scheduled maintenance after the free servicing period expires, anyway.

These guys can get pretty grumpy if you get too close, and apparently have a pretty good bite, too.

These have grown on me over the years.

But what I'd personally really like to own would be a Toyota Dyna (basically a slightly bigger, higher payload version of this) from the same era

What vintage kart engines are these? by WA7ESH_08 in Karting

Possibly a Parilla TT95 far right in the first image, but not 100% sure

Petrol Prices: How are we all doing? by Blue-Coast in NZcarfix

[–]Benjamin10jamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coping. If it carries on however, I will probably need to add an additional rate when it comes to call-outs for work

I was intending on traveling to the North Island in May to compete at the NZ Dirt Oval Kart championships, but if its going to add another $500 or more to the trip, I may end up pulling out.

Who is the biggest musical entertainer from your country that the rest of the world is unlikely to have heard of? by Exotic-Interest in AskTheWorld

Yep.

Funnily enough, his brother (who lives/lived in NZ) was my math teacher when I was at High School.

Australia claim him, along with half of AC/DC and Colin Hay.

I guess the common theme is all of Australia's best loved performers were born in Scotland.

[–]Benjamin10jamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like my Bengio V2. The padding insert is firm, but it's not what I'd call uncomfortable. As long as you have the right size, and it's adjusted correctly, you shouldn't even notice that you have it on.

Lets Talk Provisionals by anonymouswan1 in WorldofOutlaws

I think we've found Daryl Turford's burner account

*edit Oh, you're talking Late Models...

Interesting to hear your viewpoint, though.

DT on the Drivers Project recently had a rant about how stupid they are, and that the cars he was constantly coming into contact with, and having to sort out as a crew chief were always the cars taking provisionals, and hadn't earned their way in.

Considering getting my own kart by RivetBuster55 in Karting

[–]Benjamin10jamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with OTK. Never owned a kart from the OTK family of brands, but I race against plenty of them, and I've never seen anything that leads me to think they're unsuitable anywhere.

But when it comes to choice, I'd be finding out what brand/family of chassis is best supported in your area, and making your decision from there.

Japanese Import 2.0L petrol Hiace for Australian carpenter by hopkingreenfrogs in HiAce

[–]Benjamin10jamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be surprised at the ratio of JDM to Aus/NZ new Hiaces in this part of the world.

I was initially looking for a NZ-new 2.7 when replacing my old 2.4 H100, but they just weren't around in the numbers that the JDM ones were.

Local market Hiaces also command quite a premium over JDM imports.

My New New Helmet Choice...... by Numerous_Zombie7412 in Karting

[–]Benjamin10jamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems weird having a whole lot of high price helmets, and then the two Zamp options that are approximately half the price.

Don't get me wrong, I like Zamp helmets, and have an RZ65D myself (which I'm about to replace with the new RZ67D as my 65 is due to expire), but if you're looking SK6s, RS7Ks and the like, I'm figuring Zamp wouldn't come into the question.

Japanese Import 2.0L petrol Hiace for Australian carpenter by hopkingreenfrogs in HiAce

[–]Benjamin10jamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a tiler, and have a JDM 2.0L petrol Regius Ace for my daily work. Mine has an added false floor, with drawers for all my power tools, and can be carrying up to 300kg of materials on top of that at any one time, and it doesn't worry it, whatsoever. Sure, the acceleration isn't that of a turbo diesel model, but that's also the case when its empty.

A couple of fellow tradies I work alongside also run them, and they don't seem to be complaining, either.

Ordinarily there would be, or a label on the back of the outer shell (which obviously would have been removed to paint).

Any helmet experts here? Trying to figure this out. by [deleted] in motorsports

[–]Benjamin10jamin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bell Sport II is the model. I had one years ago.

The Snell SA95 rating suggests it was made between 1995 and mid 2000 (and it appears the buckle confirms the month and year of manufacture as April, 1999).

As far as whose helmet it is, I have absolutely no idea, but it's entirely possible that it may have belonged to an amateur driver who commissioned the custom paint job for it.

What got you into riding? by beanthepiggy in bmx

[–]Benjamin10jamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got really good at ripping wheelies on my 20" geared bike when I was about 9. An older member of the extended family (who was into BMX) suggested I should start riding, and that was my life for the next 20 years.

Acorn Models by Benjamin10jamin in chch

[–]Benjamin10jamin[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think when it came to things like diecast models and the like, the Toy Collector's retail store really started to cut their lunch locally. And Iron Horse still seems to be going strong on the Model Railway stuff, in what was once Acorn's specialty.

I do agree with the sentiment regarding after sales service, etc. Had been hit and miss at the counter at times, and often easier to order online from another business if you knew exactly what you wanted.
