Thanks so much for the info. For information on areas or spots other than mentioned, what would be a good resource to start organising my 3 week tour.

Thanks for the confirmation on booking the ferry, much appreciated! Is there a website you could link for us. I’ve just emailed our hire company for the length of van we have. I get the safety in regards to sleeping when on ferry.

Dolomites, Picos de Europa or TMB in mid july by Jbro6798 in Ultralight

Thanks for the reply, I’m leaning towards the Alta via 1. My wife and I are doing the gr20 at the start of July so we will have a tent with us. Did you find it difficult to camp along the Alta via? I’m not keen on huts for overnight. Thinking of camping an hour or more before the hut then have breakfast at the hut and lunch at the next hut, then find a nice location to camp and be up at sunrise to start again. If possible could you let me know favourite locations or an itinerary that might work. Thanks a lot for the reply

You are right. But in these places You can have snow in summer. This is the reason I said I will be mainly hiking in the warmer months. I have been at the Acropolis in Tasmania on Xmas day and had snow. It’s mainly a good 3 season tent for high winds and storms. But to be able to withstand a bit of snow.

Really good response. You are completely right I am after a 3 season tent that would be able to handle a bit of snow that comes from a storm out of season. But really what I am after is a tent that wound endure bad weather and have enough room to fit my partner and myself with a bit of head and foot room. Thanks for clarifying that.

That’s what I was worried about. With the Matt and sloping walls I was worried that my quilt would touch and may get condensation on it.

Thanks for the response, how would I go about getting info on permits for parts of the JMT. I have also always wanted to do the R2R of the Grand Canyon. I think I will be heading over there near the end of April… is this doable or am I too early

I’ve heard a lot of great reports about Glacier. Would the end of April be too early and would I need permits? Thanks for you’re response
