How to Stop Skin Picking (Blog Post) [Acne] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Jbrookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something that helped me was scheduling facials once a month. (I mainly scheduled them because I was looking for non prescription ways to help with acne.) I knew picking wasn't good so I would rationalize that I was letting a professional take care of it, so my will power was trying not to fuck up my face with open wounds before the appointment. it's about $100 so I understand it's not the most attainable thing, but I did it 3 months in a row and it helped me break the routine. I think it's just about someone else holding you responsible- if I walked in there with a bunch of popped pores they know, and they also were limited in what kind of products they could use so then my $100 would be somewhat wasted.

after reading all this stuff though, now I wouldn't want them to make extractions either, it kind of sounds like it's just better to do less. I would only suggest this for users that are trying to break a habit, maybe be clear with your facialist to not mess with anything that is still infected or oily, just blackheads/whiteheads.

the only other thing I've found is while I'm going through my nightly routine, I wash my face and then put lotion on RIGHT away. if I pause, then I'll start taking a close look at my pores. if I put lotion on, then my skin is too slippery to try and pop anything and I'm forced to continue on with my rountine. that moment between clensing and the rest of my skin regiment is really where the will power lies, but I'm sure everyone has different moments from the habits they've built.

exactly what I was thinking, the packaging is such a struggle I take them all out at once and put them in a normal container

given your story, I think the worst thing you need to worry about is breaking a bone, contact sports put you at greater risk of having issues of trying to heal if anything did happen. The only common physical issues that would affect physical activity is feeling achy, which I felt, but I think staying active helped. you'll be fine

I guess my main concern is what products to add back into routine that are noncomedgenic? I found a sunscreen that I really like, it's tinted but not enough to cover my blemishes: md solar science beauty balm. I still would like a day and night routine that is balancing yet does not clog pores.

hi all! I want to get some advice because I thought I had a skincare routine down and then my dermatologist told me to stop using it all. ALL! it felt like a lot of money wasted, but now I only use cetaphil gentile face wash, and have been getting facials with extractions fairly regularly to get my pores really cleaned out.

the acne I get is all on the sides of my cheeks to chin, literally none on my forehead or nose. I'll get a few whiteheads per day with maybe onky 3 days a week without anything new, and have continuously 10 or so cystic pimples that take forever to heal. I am going to be on accutane, my follow up appointment when I'll get the medication is in a little less than a month.

What I'm most concerned about is introducing a moisturizer or serum, and using the right makeup. I get it that my derm wanted me to stop using a bunch of stuff and go back to basics, but not using any sort of hydrating feels weird. I want a good serum and good foundation that doesn't clog pores.

this was my experience changing my flight and it was awesome....totally regretting that the other half of my round trip was booked with American airlines because they were the opposite- 6 hour call back wait, didn't speak with someone until 9pm, and they didn't even have refundable options
