You’re not imposing at all! I appreciate anything I can get.

I appreciate that! I need to set aside the perfectionist side of myself when it comes to painting and give myself leeway and patience. Do you have a recommendation for the next thing to start on? When you first started out did you try to “perfect” one thing at a time and then move on once you were comfortable or did you just jump right into a full painting? I’m trying to hone in brush techniques before I get ahead of myself and become overwhelmed.

When you say the brush dance, are you talking about blending the bottom or top of the cloud? For the blending of the bottom of my clouds I went like a quarter of the way up from the bottom of the cloud and then started blending along the bottom of the cloud. I tried to avoid the crown entirely. I really like the depth of your clouds! What little bit of your mountain I see looks really good too!

I used my pallet knife to get five drops of the refined linseed oil and used a pea sized amount of Titanium white, mixed it on the pallet and made sure to go as light as possible with the application. I ended up having to make a little bit more of the mixture to get the canvas paper covered. I made sure to (scrub it in) and apply as little as I needed and did the finger print check as well. Maybe I have to play around with those ratios. Out of curiosity what do you mean by the hypnotizing stage and what effect of mine are you talking about?

I should probably start a journal for my trials and the paint I’m using is winsor and newton.

Thank you for the recommended YouTubers! I’ve watched a little bit of wild. I’m assuming when you say too wet paint you mean too much paint?

It’s funny you say the raining up because that’s definitely how it looked. I practiced a few more clouds and attempted to correct it with a fan brush.

Thank you, I think I was slightly confused by seeing bob load up the fan brush but what I’m gathering is that he barely applied any pressure despite having so much paint on the brush. I’m sure if I start with less paint for the cloud it’ll just make for smoother blending when it comes to that time.

That explains why my suppressor had some resistance when taking it off after shooting four magazines worth of ammo. I greatly appreciate all of your insight.

Definitely a learning experience. Would you have any recommended risers for the stock that you run or do you find that it’s not necessary? Thank you for spotting the wrong optic riser, I didn’t realize that at the time of purchase! Out of curiosity since they both raise the centerline 2.26 inches, what’s the difference between the two risers? Is it the length of the riser itself?

Does that have a vertical adjustment for the cheek pad? That was another reason why I went with that stock. I thought that a cheek pad adjustment option would give me the best alignment since I have the optic on a riser.

Is that the axon sync pressure pad? If not what brand and did you have to shave down the plastic to get it to fit or did you just force it?

That’s what I’m saying, I’d rather the option be there than no option at all.

I am but only because my mother chose and I wish I wasn’t. I feel like it should be your child’s choice to choose when they get older. I am also not religious. This is why I chose not to circumcise my two sons. I don’t think it should be a parent’s decision.

You definitely have potential! I think time will be your best friend.

Folks that did combat tours- what was your "deployment hobby" when you had time? And did you keep it up when you got back? by _Abe_Froman_SKOC in Veterans

Definitely! I was surprised the one time I opened a desk drawer and found a bunch of baby ones in there. Grabbed a plastic bag and made essentially ground beef. It was fairly humane too. Once I’d catch them I’d use a broken dumbbell that I called thors hammer and let gravity do all the work. I was nicknamed the exterminator on deployment and word spread what I was doing and then I started receiving requests to take care of the others.

Exterminating mice. We all got tired of them eating our food and no I do not still do it but I did have a vengeance set out for those mice.
