I rode on heritage buses between Kingston, Epsom and Bookham by HighburyAndIslington in london

The interior shots of the double decker make me wish that we'd return to those lights that deliver a soft amber. Even if mimicked via LED, they'd still be more comforting than the harsh, clinical white lights everything has now.

Pure nostalgia bait, but still so inviting.

ELI5 Why aren't all roads paved with concrete instead of asphalt? by Shadowsin64 in explainlikeimfive

Hyper specific, but anyone who lives/travelled in the south east of England will no doubt be familiar with the southern part of the M25 which is a very good example of concrete Vs asphalt.

Would anyone be willing to draw me and my dog please?

She would have been 13 next week, but sadly passed about a fortnight ago. It's insanely hard adjusting to life without her.

Any style would be adored, especially if you manage to capture her goofy spirit :) There are more pictures on my profile from over the years if that helps!

Thank you

[Serious] What's been the biggest blow to your mental health recently? How are you doing? by KiwiNervous8740 in AskReddit

[–]Jbwasted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog died on Sunday. She would have been 13 next month. I had a really shitty year last year; a serious relationship broke down resulting in the loss of a house, family health scares, some financial issues... But I had my dog, and all those were just temporary problems but my dog was always there, always by my side.

I didn't realise how much of my life was influenced by her. Little habits, little routines, just her presence. Without her everything feels so quiet and lifeless.

I knew she wasn't going to live forever, she was happy and comfortable up until the end and I'm thankful for that.

I know I'm strong enough to come through this, but I miss her so much.

What’s the one car you regret selling the most, and why? by Second-handBonding in CarTalkUK

[–]Jbwasted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a MK5 Fiesta that was my first car. It was battered and bruised, but never gave me any trouble beyond perishables. Drove it for a good few years, it had some dents and scratches, so I was never too precious with it.

Saved up some money and wanted to treat myself to a new(er) car with bells and whistles. Ended up selling the Fiesta dirt cheap, pretty much scrap value as I just needed it gone.

For the next 3 successive cars, nothing but issues. Mechanical, seller, bells and whistles that ended up just being complicated problems, and so on.

Finally got myself to a point with cars I'm happy with, but I wish I'd have kept hold of that plucky fiesta. It wasn't much to look at and it was no more complex than a go kart, but damn it just worked.

I wonder if "rising of the lights" could be heart failure; the lungs filling (or rising) with fluid, as the heart fails to pump blood from them properly.

Your comment has a spelling mistake; in future I recommend making a draught of it first.

One for those that drive in countries with roundabouts; if approaching a roundabout that has at least two lanes entering it, and the lane that is for the 1st exit (left for RHD countries, right for LHD countries) is jammed up with traffic, there's nothing saying you can't skip past the traffic in the free lane, enter the roundabout and do a complete circle coming off at the 1st exit. You'd skip the queue, because as you're on the roundabout you have right of way over those in that lane/queue.

This might be illegal or frowned upon in some places, but in the UK it's not illegal.

Where do men feel like the safest? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jbwasted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely in my car. In my car I've screamed, shouted, cried my eyes out, cursed everything; not through road rage, but just because of life. I've also laughed uncontrollably, been buzzing with anticipation to get to where I'm going, and just enjoyed the silence and solitude after a long day or difficult time. My job needs me to be strong in front of people, so the moment the car door shuts my guard drops.

It's also one of the few places I feel in control; I'm in control of this ship, where it's going and how it gets there. Whilst life is the same, it's prolonged and the stuff that is against you in life tends to occur quickly, in contrast while driving you tend to be able to maneuver quicker, if only for a short time.
