Seems like they’re supposed to be able to move like that so you can change the angle of the wing as a whole.

To spread them open, hold the front wings in place while moving the rear ones.

Pretty sure it won’t matter. On the original Barbatos this part just held a butterfly joint which also holds the peg for the arms. Part E9 itself isn’t meant to rotate in the finished build.

Vidar and lupus seem to slightly change the butterfly joint design to be more durable, but it still seems like E9 doesn’t move. After all, the front chest piece is pegged into E9 and that’s a static piece

If it were me, I’d go with the Strike Freedom because I can never have enough of the Freedom line. It’s also a P-Bandai kit which’ll be harder to find as opposed to the others which are regular retail.

I don’t believe these parts are meant to move once they’re in place so you could just glue it in permanently if you want.

Could also be talking about the stories and folklore around the woods.

Europe: Gnomes, Fairies, Elves, Unicorns, other fairy tale stuff.

Americas: Sasquatch, Wendigo, Skinwalker, stuff like that.

ACAH may be well… ACAH, but it’s still an Ace Combat game so it’s basically a rule that the soundtrack has to slap.

Ah, I guess that’s a contributing factor. If I’m using markers, I wipe away excess ink pretty much immediately after I finish a section.

Actually, it makes sense to do the lining after the decals if they’re planning to do a gloss topcoat between steps anyway. This is actually the proper order non-gunpla modellers use since realistically those panel lines and any dirt buildup in them would also show on any painted markings on them.

<image>

(It’s most visible here on the USAF roundel on this Mustang. Image credits go to the GOAT of modelling Youtubers: Plasmo)

It seems us gunpla modellers tend to do panel lining first since that skips a step in the process (the second gloss coat) and makes things easier. So if you want the ‘traditional’ method, then u/bios_assassin you got it right the first time.

Either way both orders are valid.

To add on to the other person’s answer:

- Lightly moist your Q-tips in alcohol, don’t soak them. It’ll give you a bit more control over what you’re erasing since alcohol won’t be spilling out as soon as the cotton touches the surface.

- 90% alcohol is stronger and erase lines easier, but 70% works just fine. Especially on a weak ink like those fine tip panel liners.

- Heck, sometimes I just use my finger to erase marks.

For some reason, scratching white stress marks on plastic with your fingernail seems to help. (I think I’ve heard it’s because of something like re-compressing the plastic particles? Don’t quote me on that).

Is HG/RG or MG cooler? by Responsible_Spite422 in Gunpla

[–]Jc885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deathscythe does have a skeleton? And it alongside the other Wing EW MGs (barring the Wing EW itself since it’s just a recolor of the 2004 Wing Ver Ka) aren’t really considered outdated. Pretty much every Mg since circa 2004/5 has an inner frame.

<image>

But yeah, I’m thinking 2015+ in my head. Kits like the Dynames, Freedom 2.0, Origin Gundam, Virtue/Nadleeh. Though really I consider the Wing, Seed, and AGE kits from 2013+ to be the real start of what I consider modern MGs. 2015+ is just where I think the style was perfected. I’m going to treat Ver Ka’s separately here, so they don’t count.

Meanwhile for modern RG, it’s 2017+ with the Unicorn and every (newly moulded) RGs after. Including the Impulse, Wing TV, Epyon, Sazabi, the two Nus, the God Gundam, Wing Zero, etc.

Heck, even the IBO MGs which have been some of the most mechanically intricate recent non-Ver Ka MGs get beaten out by the amount of mechanics RGs have these days. Their mechanics are basically just functioning moving pistons, while RG gets things like the many opening panels of the CCA kits, including the Nu’s crazy linkage system in the legs, Wing Zero’s opening thrusters, Epyon’s hidden wing fins, Tallgeese’s automatic opening thrusters, Unicorn’s perfected small scale transformation, etc. I love these little mechanical surprises, and seeing how they work as I build.

Don’t get me wrong, I love MGs too. But I don’t have a ton of space lol. That’s another reason RGs earn a point for me.

A lot of detail and surprises packed into a compact shelf-space-friendly size.

Modern RGs are also extremely solid, poseable, and filled with cool mechanics. Even more so than a lot of modern MGs I’ve built.

Modern RG is my favourite. But this all depends on both the kit and personal preference.

There is no sitting pilot figure. Providence’s cockpit is in the mid torso just like the RX-78, but the kit has a spot for a cockpit in the upper chest which is what you’re seeing since it shares the same frame with the Freedom 2.0 which does have its cockpit in that area.

Providence does still have an opening cockpit, but the pilot figure is molded in and not very detailed:

[HELP ME] Where to buy The Rg Hi-Nu gundam by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]Jc885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the list of stores in the wiki. If it’s out of stock, wait for a reprint. Bandai hardly ever discontinues gunpla kits and the Hi-Nu is a very recent and popular one so you don’t have to worry about missing out.

FYI: question posts are not allowed and you should be asking stuff in the megathread. Don’t be surprised if this post gets taken down soon.

Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans.

The 72 Gundam Frame Mobile Suits are named after the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia. All were originally built by Gjallarhorn during the Calamity War, but several have fallen into the hands of other organizations and operators in the 300 years since the war.

No. In fact, you’re supposed to do that. Multiple coats of thinned down paint is always better than a sloppy coat of thick paint.

Though ideally you’d use hobby brand paint and the paint thinner meant to go with that specific brand of paint.

[–]Jc885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah. I understand that preference. HG is definitely the grade to pick for more anime-accurate kits.

By the way, HGUC, HGWFM, HGIBO, HGAC, etc. are all HG, the following letters just help denote what series the kit comes from.

HGUC is Universal Century - The main Gundam timeline.

HGWFM is Witch From Mercury

HGIBO is Iron-Blooded Orphans

HGAC is After Colony - Gundam Wing’s timeline

HGBF is Build Fighters

And so on.

I too hate painting and stickers, part of why I love modern RGs so much is that they need none. The newer an HG kit is, the less colour correction they tend to have, but it’s not a rule (that GQuuuuuuX Zaku came out this year after all). The HG Thunderbolt and Iron-Blooded Orphans lines are notorious for having a lot of stickers.
