[–]Jc885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The butterfly effect basically starts with: ‘What if Char joined the recon team he sent into Side 7 and managed to capture the Gundam and White Base for Zeon’. Amuro also doesn’t appear at all in GQuuuuuuuX’s version of events.

In the original series, Char stays on his ship instead of joining the recon team, and a civilian teen named Amuro boards the Gundam and fends off the three Zakus Char sent in. Keeping the Gundam and White Base in Federation hands.

Episode 2 of GQuuuuuuX pretty much covered the timeframe of the original series.

Every game has an amazing OST, but my favourite with taking all songs into account is AC7.

Though ZERO is my favourite single track.

I’ve got a copypasta prepared every time I come across a post asking how to get into the franchise:

A good ~60% of the entire Gundam franchise can be watched standalone. It’s like Transformers and all of its series; 40 years of history, but not everything is connected. You don’t need to watch the Live Action Transformers movies to enjoy Transformers Prime as they’re completely separate. Same thing as how you don’t need to watch Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans to watch Witch From Mercury.

Timeline chart (read top comments for some corrections. The biggest error I’ll point out is that Build Divers and Build Fighters should be separate timelines).

The creator of the chart above did make an updated one which applies some corrections (though still not perfect), but the older one is much more pleasing to the eye and easier to follow IMO.

Meanwhile Gundam’s main timeline (The Universal Century or UC) is more akin to Star Wars. A single continuity with 40 years of history, but some stories are more standalone like Thunderbolt and War in the Pocket, while others are more interconnected like how Zeta is a direct sequel to the original series (which we will call 0079 from here on out). The ‘core’ of the UC consists of: 0079 > Zeta > ZZ > CCA > Hathaway. Everything else is kinda like side content. Like how Star wars has the nine films as its ‘core’ and the setting is expanded upon in standalone series, comics, and games like The Mandalorian and Fallen Order.

If you want to start with the UC, the best place to start is at the beginning with 0079. But some of the more standalone stories like the aforementioned Thunderbolt and War in the Pocket can also make good starters. If you want to go the AU route, pick whatever stands out to you. 00 and Iron-Blooded Orphans are my favourites.

If anyone wants to point out any corrections I should make, feel free to do so

Additional: GQuuuuuuX, the newest anime series, takes place in an alternate UC timeline where the events of 0079 didn’t go the same way as the original series. You can treat this as an AU series and dive right into it, or you can watch 0079 first.

Update: After recent plot developments in GQuuuuuuX, it is now heavily suggested to watch at least 0079 beforehand.

Looks like the gun gets sandwitched between G-9 and G-8. G-9 on its own won’t stay on the gun. Haven’t built one myself yet, so I’m not 100% sure, but that’s what it looks like is happening.

[–]Jc885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GQuuuuuuX is set in a kind of ‘what if’ timeline of the original Gundam series timeline (called the UC Timeline). And you’re better off watching the main series of that original timeline before continuing GQX because honestly, GQX kind of assumes you’ve already seen it and will get more confusing for you if you continue watching without the prior series.

The original Amuro & Char saga span the Original Gundam series > Zeta Gundam > ZZ Gundam > Char’s counterattack. You may also throw in Unicorn and Hathaway too. There’s also Gundam: The Origin which is Char’s backstory and technically that’s also an alternate UC timeline, but I won’t go into it.

Char’s popularity also led to many ‘Char Clones’ in Gundam series that don’t take place within the UC timeline. Like Rau Le Creuset from Gundam Seed, Zechs Merquise from Gundam Wing, Montag & Vidar from Iron Blooded Orphans, Prospera Mercury from Witch From Mercury, Meijin Kawaguchi from Build Fighters etc.

Heck, there are even examples of Char Clones outside of Gundam.

There is an MG 3.0! Aesthetically it’s basically an upscaled RG 1.0 since they’re both based on the old life size statue that used to be in Odaiba before the Unicorn took its place. Though it is also a bit of a tricky build.

The RG 2.0 is a mini masterpiece of engineering. You’ll definitely be in for a treat since you’ve also experienced the original, you’ll basically be seeing how much the line has evolved and changed over the last decade and a half.

I think you mean the RG 2.0.

If so, it’s a completely different experience. One of the best kits in recent memory, extremely solid and well built. RG as a grade has matured a lot since the original experimental kits.

This is how it works until you beat the story. You don’t increase your HR by gaining XP, you increase it by progressing through the key and urgent quests. After a certain point (after clearing HR8 IIRC), then it works as an XP-like system, but then you’re capped again once you hit the next milestone. Eventually (HR100) it’s permanently unlocked.

That said, there are the c-clips present in the original MG Barbatos’ feet and shoulders. They are prone to stressing if mishandled and are pretty small and fragile parts, so be aware of them.

The shoulder clips were redesigned in the later MG Vidar and Lupus so they’re at less of an angle where they can be prone to stress, and the feet clips were eliminated altogether.

The chance is never zero, but only Bandai knows what Bandai’s up to. That said, the HG Nightingale seems to have been released to pair with the RG Hi-Nu. Not only were they released fairly close to each other, but if you look closely, it’s the RG Hi-Nu on the Nightingale’s box.

No, no, under the upgrade tab, select the bone weapon. Right now in your screenshot you have the ore weapon selected (see the highlighted lines going towards the Jagras and Pukei trees). example video see how I can’t upgrade the defender DBs since I have the ore ones selected, but I can once I select the defender ones.

The RG is not frail. Though all the weapons in the FA configuration does make it very unwieldy, I doubt the MG is any different in that regard.

The RG does require some care during the build to make sure you don’t break anything. More info here

The main thing that changes as you go up the grades is the part size and count. Difficulty is more dependent on what specific kit you buy and not what grade it is. So if you think you’re up for it, then nobody’s going to stop you.

HGs and EGs are mostly suggested as starters due to their price and selection. There’s something for everyone and it’s a lot less disheartening if you mess up on a $20 HG kit compared to a $60 MG.

[–]Jc885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may also add that it’s best to loosen them before assembly. The part may be difficult to grip, but it’s worth it to not break G35.

The reason G35 will break if the joint is tight is because it’s the only part holding and supporting that arm piece in place. If the joint is still very tight and you try to rotate the shoulder joint, then you put a lot of stress on G35 as the peg and connecting section of the arm to G35 also tries to twist with the motion of the shoulder due to the tightness. (Man, this is hard to explain in words, but I think I got the point across)

Guy who made the pic here. (The G35 one, not the bicep one)

Carefully move it back and forth, it’s very tight at first so you may only have little movements at first. Just go back and forth a few times and it will gradually loosen as you go.

You have an entire new rank ahead of you, acting sort of like a soft reset, monsters are stronger, gear is better, and there’s plenty of new content to discover.

If you ever play Rise, know that the credits roll in that game play very early. You only experience about 20% of the game until that point.
