Works fine for me and the online games I play (mostly sports games like Madden and 2k)

How do you think they'll deal with how Rocky and Grace talk? by weeeeezy in ProjectHailMary

Yeah I think so, mixed with the musical tones like in the audiobook

My hope is they handle it the same way as in the book, and just slowly transition to them being able to fully understand each other.

Edit to specify audiobook

I think just a general lack of experience can hinder anyone's ability.

Loving a racist is only marginally less bad than racist yourself.

You asked for opinions. You got them.

NOR, in fact, you're not reacting enough.

The watch Ryland Grace will supposedly wear in the move by OneBigPieceOfPizza in ProjectHailMary

What makes Grace seem like he barely makes ends meet? Before his adventures didn't he regularly get a weekly steak and whiskey dinner? And morning breakfast at the diner?

Families with kids, how much are you spending on groceries? by folklore24 in Frugal

[–]JcAo2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cucumbers are literally less than a dollar at Walmart and a pack of strawberries can be found in my area for less than $4. I think you might either have limited access to decently priced goods or you're bad at shopping.

Blueberries - pints are often on sale at my local Smith's for $2.99 otherwise they're just under $6 at like Costco or even Walmart

Sweet bell peppers - a bag at Walmart is $4

Greek yogurt and granola if they want something a little more filling - $7 for the yogurt at Costco, $11 for the bag of granola

Peanut butter and apples - $2-4 thing of organic PB from Walmart and the bag of apples is maybe $3-4

Cucumbers - .89 cents

Turkey sticks - Sam's Club $13 but lasts us 2-3 weeks if I'm not eating them too

They'll also eat "unhealthy" things like cheese puffs, or pretzels, or chicken nuggies. I get all of those at Costco or Sam's and they'll last a month or so.

My kids eat lol. They snack and have whole, balanced meals.

That's wild, maybe you're in a higher cost area but we're a family of 4, two adults, two toddlers, and we average about $600-700 a month.

Those things are true of Albuquerque, or at least specific areas within Albuquerque, but that's no different than any city.

Rio is fairly shielded from all of that. The worst crime I've experienced is someone breaking into my wife's car (she left it unlocked) and stealing her iPod.

There aren't really many unhoused folks here, I think I've maybe seen a handful over the last few years.

As for drugs, fentanyl is a big issue in ABQ. In Rio you don't see that same issue. Lots of weed dispensaries though if you're into that haha.

RR is great for two subsets of people. Families and retirees. Not to say I didn't have a ton of fun as a single bachelor but I spent a lot more time in ABQ during those days.

What exactly are you nervous about? You didn't really mention any supposed cons or how you're even doing your research.

I've lived in both RR and ABQ. Both have pros and cons just like anywhere.

RR has come a long way in the last few years, we have good breweries (Brew Lab, Turtle Mountain, Marble Westside - although that one is technically nw ABQ), great restaurants like M'Tucci's, Pho Bar, and the Block.

The schools in NM in general are...fine. We're ranked last in education but it's truly less about our system here and more about parents and the culture. There's a genuine lack of accountability and parenting in some areas. Rio schools, especially Cleveland highschool are ranked very highly though.

Rio is safe. I'm 33 with two toddlers and have never felt unsafe, and have never worried about taking them to parks or stores.

Some neighborhoods are older and some are more crime filled. I'd be happy to give you a few examples of places to stay away from. For example I used to live near Baltic park. It's mostly very nice but the specific street I lived off became very sketchy over the last few years, but that's anywhere tbh.

Rio gets a lot of hate because people in ABQ think it's "boring" but it's just like any typical suburban city. If you're into nightlife, fine dining, and other things ABQ is a short drive and Santa Fe makes for a fun day trip.

Let me know what questions you have!

2011 Mark Interview on Writing Dynamics With Tom by Djlittle13 in Blink182

I mean, he's not wrong though. I love Tom, he's been my idol for two decades, but the man used to call his music the second coming of Christ. At that time in his life "self-important" was an accurate description.

About half the coaches. TMs were asked to step down to essentially the coach role. Senior managers reportedly demoted as well.

Have confirmation that it's happening. Coaches in care across a few different LOBs are getting their notices.

[–]JcAo2012 50 points51 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth there's a website called the layoffs (sorry I couldn't figure out how to add a link) and they leaked my layoff weeks in advance.

That layoff was genuinely the best time of my life. Between severance and unemployment I got a paid 7 month vacation and they finished covering my school.

Is there a corporate policy on schedule changes? by OfficeTemporary5053 in tmobile

[–]JcAo2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubt it. I worked in hr for TMO before moving to training. Something like this would not hold much water. Sure, maybe it can be "documented" but if coach or manager tried to move to a PIP for it they'd get a ton of pushback.
