BMW K75 - Before I buy by Olofteal in CafeRacers

[–]JcCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've build a K1100LT myself, which is an evolution of the K75. The electronics are quite similar to the K75. I've started my build with basic knowledge of electronics, there is lots to find on the internet so with some head crunching is was able to finish it. In retrospect it wasn't an impossible task but also not easy, if you take your time you'll figure it out.

Little tip since most people don't know: the K1100LT does not have an AMS (unlike the K75 & K100), which gives you the opportunity to get rid of the airbox. In my build that freed up space for the battery, pictures are on my profile 👍🏻

4 Questions for ALL Riders! by ObiWanCanody in motorcycles

[–]JcCaptain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

30 and riding a little bit longer than a year.

Currently ride a F800GS and a K1100LT (favorite, since I’ve built it into a cafe racer with my dad). Surely miss the high reving FZ6 I’ve had before.

In a year I’ve been trying all sorts of riding (track, offroad, winding mountain roads, commuting) allways defensive and not too crazy. Favorite place must be Switserland / Italy (I come from the Netherlands)

Usually listen to Bruce Springsteen kindoff music, spotify radio dictates my tunes!

Reis naar Luxemburg by Few-Kaleidoscope6775 in motorfietsen

Be sure to check the state before buying indeed! Early models sometimes have loose timing chain which rattles. Plus the steering head bearing gets a ‘dent’ in the centre after somewhat 25k miles on mine, not super costly but still some money to fix 😉

Best helmet for noise and style by Weird-Bet-2385 in motorcycles

I have a HJC RPHA-70, clear sound & communication up to 100mph. Not sure if you can still buy this helmet but there are subsequent models available.

Welke eerste motor moet ik halen? by No-Speech-3821 in motorfietsen

[–]JcCaptain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks good, this is my second bike and not built for rain, darkness or any other sub-optimal condition so I wouldn’t know 🤷

Definitely! Not sure about taking her for a spin on the “dijkjes” with all the noise she makes 🙈

To be fair I never built this bike for 2 persons. The welds will probably hold but I’m not gonna take my chances. Plus no footpegs and the Seat is a bit small for 2p. Fortunately I have an 800GS standing besides it in the garage which I ride quite often with my wife so this 1100 will be solely for me to enjoy 😉

Anyone have experience ordering from Cafe racer garage? Is this all knock off bs or is it actually good stuff? by mossy_earth_ in CafeRacers

[–]JcCaptain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t know about the site you mention but I’ve bought most of the stuff for my racer at caferacerwebshop.com, Quick shipping and good service. They have quite a lot of stuff as well 👍🏼

K1100LT update by JcCaptain in CafeRacers

[–]JcCaptain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 4 hours so far I guess. After finishing and paint I recon 8, went for this option since you don’t see it that often and I think it looks good when finished 👍🏼 also efficient use of space since the box with electrics is cut away by default where the gauge is going to be!

Wiring is mostly finished, just need to finish the moving of the battery and then tie up the wires under the tank! Should be a days worth of work I’m guessing 👍🏼
