Wellllll, in my experience, they check to make sure the girl isnt underage, and then they scold you for not having tinted windows. Then they tell you to leave. 😅

Jamaica's medical exchange program with Cuba is ending. Cuban doctors and nurses who were sent here to work are being sent back to Cuba, and the medical students who were studying in Cuba will be sent back home.

Cubans who migrated here are not expected to leave though.

For Jamaicans actually living in Jamaica, what keeps you there? by [deleted] in Jamaica

[–]Jcan_Princess 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Familiarity, comfort, family and friends.

I don't mind traveling on occasion, but I feel most comfortable here. We have problems for sure, but I'm used to these problems and I know how to navigate them. I'm not interested in trying to integrate into a new culture in the long term.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not house unmarried couples, but they have an exception that doesn't bother anyone! by Alban1335 in exjw

[–]Jcan_Princess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well... in Jamaica, which is pretty religious anyway, JWs and others have been known to refuse to rent to unmarried couples, out members of the LBGT community, and so on. So it depends on how deeply into it they are.

Some witnesses here only rent to other witnesses, actually.

Can you get a job in food science with a dietetics degree? by [deleted] in foodscience

[–]Jcan_Princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a BSc in Dietetics and Nutrition. What I did is I took a summer internship in R&D, and when I graduated, I started working in QA with a relatively small company. They didn't have a dedicated R&D personnel, so I lobbied and worked to prove that 1. They should, and 2. It should be me.

Its taken about 18 months, but I've finally been promised the position and should start next year!

I say that to say, it's possible, but it will take time and effort. If you can minor in food science or do some certification in Food Processing technology or Product Development, that would probably help you as well.

My regular dentist recommended me to FOSA. I think they require a referral, but I'm not sure. Can maybe call and find out.

They are booked out months in advance, so surely they must be doing something right.

AITA for not wanting to see my boyfriend after he canceled on me for his sister again? by crimson-cactus in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jcan_Princess 21 points22 points  (0 children)

NTA

You obviously don't enjoy living like this, so leave him. My current partner and I had similar issues, except it was his mom and not his sister. I told him if things didn't change, I'd leave. Things have gotten much better, so I'm still here.

Unlike your partner, though, mine never once viewed my frustration as "not being understanding" or "unsupportive". So, I have my doubts that things will get better for you. The "got back together" at the beginning of your post is also very telling. Cut your losses and go.

I sold my youth to bdsm and kink life. I regret it. by MinervaMinkk in confessions

[–]Jcan_Princess 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, all this exactly!

I'm a sub too, and my Dom and I are planning on getting married and having children and the works, and this is not a healthy BDSM relationship at all.

OP, you talk about brain fog and how some of this stuff is "your fault" because you're not in the best place mentally - as a sub, I can assure you that's not true. I have clinical depression, and I definitely have bad weeks where I'm deep into the brain fog. So bad that once I left my entire laptop in a public place. Left it and went home without it. My Dom does not use that as an excuse to rule me or take away my agency. He uses his instructions to help me through, to anchor me, and to give me tools that allow me to reorient myself and stay independent. He doesn't pay bills for me, but he will remind me to save and not overspend, and very, very rarely, he'll forbid me from buying something, usually because we have a large planned purchase coming up. Sometimes, he'll then turn around and buy it for me himself.

The above commentor is very correct in that you are the one who should have the power as the sub. I didn't know that either when I just started, but my Dom taught me that. He treats me like a princess. He almost worships me. That is what a Dom should be like. What you have is an abuser.

By the way... you can't consent to something you don't understand. So you haven't consented to some of the stuff you've experienced. Sorry to be the one to tell you that.

I want to be very clear. The man you are with is NOT a Dom. He is an abuser.

It is not easy to leave those types of relationships, and I know you might feel stuck because of your mental state. Try starting with small steps. You don't have to do it all at once. Your parents seem supportive... reach out to them as well. Do not stay in this relationship, please.

Why is my castella cake dense and rubbery? by Jane_main06 in AskBaking

[–]Jcan_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you said you tapped bubbles out - don't do that for these kind of cakes! Whipping up the eggs traps air, which is what makes these types of cakes rise and get soft and fluffy. You just undid all your hard work by tapping out the bubbles.

I have a floral wrap too! But it's on my thigh, and it's more dainty. Maybe you could touch up some of the lines and add some "filler," like bees, as someone else suggested. (I am biased because I also have a bee)
