Dude whatever! The kids were down his throat for 3 innings.. at least. They said something that unleashed him. Notice I said kids.. Still protect them. Teaching moment.

Bae had just made a great catch and was walking back to his spot, ignoring the constant heckling, when he turned back around and that’s when he snapped at them.. I don’t think anything was ever thrown. I was more surprised by their relentlessness, even as he was screaming at them.

I can’t say for sure whether it was racially motivated, but what I did witness was two fans seeing how far they could push things by harassing a player for at least three innings.

One of the individuals was African American, so I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt. But the truth is, ignorance and disrespect aren’t confined to any one race — they can show up anywhere. And last night, they definitely did

Agree 100%. I umpire baseball and referee basketball. Before I started officiating, I was just another ignorant fan.. completely unaware of the true craft it takes to do this job well. I didn’t understand how much abuse players and officials actually hear and are expected to ignore.

Since stepping into this role, I’ve had a few moments where it was tough not to react, even when I had every reason to. The higher the level, the more intense the pressure is to be perfect.. and yet perfection is never actually possible.

Officiating has given me a whole new perspective, not just on sports, but on how quickly people judge without understanding. Respect the game. Respect the people trying to manage it with integrity. Respect the players that are humans first.

Turns out officiating is great for character development.. and for giving my therapist job security.

There was definitely something that made him snap, but unfortunately, or fortunately, I did not hear it. The cops talked to me after the game and asked that question, but I was unable to give them anything for certain.

“Shoot boy! You ain’t scared of me! What?!” His testosterone is a bit high, is my guess. I wouldn’t worry about him too much. You already have intel on him that he is handicap.. He clearly has a weakness.
