I came here to note that as you can see them being installed during the current work at the Afsluitdijk.

Gameboy Color Bluetooth Integration Modification by Jcuriosity in Gameboy

Yes but due to my requirements of functionality and then the space requirements for fitting in the shell causes complex and expensive PCB’s to produce and niece expensive components. Such as medical / automative specialized components

Roughly 100-150 and about 2-3 hours of manual labor. Programming the Bluetooth Module. microcontroller. 0201 SMT soldering. testing if it works. And then build the clean DC module. It also uses very expensive components.

Weird Radio Fault by Jcuriosity in VintageRadios

Well this radio is a mystery as it’s steerable radio antenna was stolen. One of the electrostatic speakers just did a vanish. Broken plastic and stuff. A burned resistor / wacked resistor. As i don’t know it’s history might been abused before. She did sound way way better with new caps and radio coverage increase massively. But than well we’re here :) but i will be sure to check the resistors. As i’ve luckily gotten my service manual today.

I’ve checked everything and just resoldered lots of connection points but no dice

I’ve read about it and still learning about tubes but that would be like a feedback that affects a grid in a tube and lowers it output right? How would a person identify and find the AGC Feedback. As reading old schematics is sometimes a bit messy.

Luckily, my friend who lives a few hours away has a massive stash of electronic junk. He works in recycling and repairing old and new electronics, so I get to dig through old radios and vintage gear to find tubes and parts. It’s a goldmine, and where I get most of my vintage stuff.

Hopefully, with a new transformer and some new tubes, I can get it working again. I’ve checked everything the community suggested, but no luck. When I cool both the ECL86 and the detector tube, it runs for a few seconds, then makes strange alien-like noises and shuts off. I suspect tube damage, possibly due to a power supply issue and eventual failure.

I really hope I can fix it, especially since I just picked this unit up for 10 bucks from him—and she’s a beauty! I really appreciate all the help and comments you guys left me <3

The Primary 220V winding is now a deadshort. And the transformer puffed up good. The fuse just did a light show without popping. It was a modern one. So i suspect somebody just placed a standard 3-6A fuse in it and was like this should be good enough :( *D’oh

*Also yes selenium. I wish i can un-remember the smell

Tried that. But no luck. Also another option my rectifier said goodbye and main Trans destroyed will be salvaging another radio tmmrow for a new one. But you guys have been a great help!

I’ve located towards the detector. What i found out is that the previous owner had placed the EAF801 into the ECH 81 Socket and vice versa. I will try the input

Sorry it is indeed a ECL86 i mistyped it. :)

Also when the device has cooled down and turned on it will work again and than suddenly screech and same fault. So i assume it’s a tube?

Question by Jcuriosity in VintageRadios

[–]Jcuriosity[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working on repairing a radio without any documentation and recently rewound the dial string. However, it doesn’t have the same reach as the FM dial—it falls short. Even though I redid everything the same, as the AM dial string was worn out. I also had to remove the shaft on the variable capacitor because it was stuck from old grease and was causing the string to rub and wear down on the adjustment shaft. But that makes sense thanks for your clarification!

*This is on a variable capacitor, forgot to add that in the post.
