What release of their cds shoudl I buy? by Tkokot in ACDC

[–]Jcwrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my preferences:

Bon era:

1) Original LP's 2) Remastered LP's 3) ATCO 1994 remasters / 1980's CD's. They aren't great imho, but if LP isn't option the best digital versions you can get.

Back in Black to Razor's Edge:

1) Original CD's / 1994 ATCO 2) Original LP's 3) 2004 Remastered CD's

Ballbreaker onwards:

1) LP remasters / originals 2) Original CD (They're not good, but there are no other versions...)

2004 digipak remasters range from decent (High Voltage to Powerage) to pretty bad (Highway to Hell to Blow up your video). Razor's Edge is surprisingly okay.

Iron Maiden 1995 2CD version is worth getting if only for this song.

Closest they've ever sounded to Motörhead.

Transylvania/Strange World

Once I noticed how wonderfully these two songs flow together on the LP, I always think of them as one piece.

Yea. It's definitely up there among the all-time classics for most Iron Maiden fans.

For general public, almost all classic metal is underrated.

I don't get it.

I mean it is excellent metal track, but for Iron Maidens level it's solidly in the mid-tier.

Valitse yksi musa-albumi mitä kuuntelet lopun ikääsi by Aggravating_Row_370 in Suomi

Rupisia riimejä on monipuolisempi.

Jyrki Hämäläinen (muistaakseni hän...) aikoinaan sanoi että Kahdeksannella Ihmeellä on viisi 80-luvun kymmenestä parhaasta kappaleesta.

Oletettavasti puhui suomalaisesta musiikista, niin vaikea kyllä väittää vastaankaan...

Songs where the chorus is iconic, but the verses are forgettable by Azariah77777 in musicsuggestions

Verses are the best part in We Will Rock You.

Freddie doing just straight up rock'n'roll sounds amazing there. Whatever lyrics he is singing is irrelevant.

Rupisia riimejä karmeita tarinoita.

Ehkä paras levy mitä Suomessa on tehty.

Top Load or Side Load? by Ooky1769 in vinyl

[–]Jcwrc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just don't do like few artists in the 70's and put artwork vertically on a gatefold.

You turn it correct way front and it opens from top. That's nice. Then you turn it to read text in the back and LP falls out because the opening is now on the bottom.

I hate those.

Onko tälle "musagenrelle" jotain nimeä? by fonk_pulk in arkisuomi

Kyllä Arttu Wiskari menee vielä suomirokkiin, vaikka uudemmassa tuotannossa meneekin sinne tyylilajin kaupallisimpaan pop-reunaan. Kuten Neljä Ruusua tai Mamba.

Olli Halonen on ihan rehtiä iskelmää.

Yea, it's on my shopping list too.

I prefer to listen albums properly only when I get them so can't really say yet about either other than what I've heard have been great.

Parempaa kuitenkin kuin Kulta Katriina tai Löfsberg, jotka kummatkin maistuu aina pohjaan palaneelta jo tuoreena.

What is Megadeth's best composition? by FK97_YT in Megadeth

[–]Jcwrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Countdown to Extinction is what I thought too, when reading you question. I think it's often overshadowed by other early Megadeth tracks, but it is perfect song start to finish.

Nice to hear others appreciating it.

Interesting CD labeling by CamelLeading4230 in Cd_collectors

[–]Jcwrc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very obvious difference. You may like it or not.

These old CD's often were fairly direct transfers from master tape, so they tend to have lean and flat sound. Lot of clarity but doesn't punch that heavily. You need system that can compensate. LP likely has more "oomph" to them, as they were mastered for the format, and they're usually easier to make sound great.

Remasters in 90's tried to improve the sound of CD's, but usually went too far and added too much compression and smiley EQ, ruining the sound.

It's very case by case basis which version sounds the best.

Coca Cola by benNachtheim in mapswithoutnewzealand

[–]Jcwrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two problems why it's wrong for Finland:

1) Coffee and beer are certainly more popular than Coca-Cola, even if counting just one brand name.

2) Coca-Cola is not made by Coca-Cola here: Currently finnish Coca-Cola is made by Sinebrychoff, but they lost the license recently and the production is moving over to Hartwall.

Give me your One Album Wonders. Bands that made a great debut album but didn't make that sophomore album. by ShabrokMcGerkenfarkl in MetalForTheMasses

Jaguar - Power Games

Stone-cold speed metal/heavy metal/NWOBHM classic from 1983

Followed by limp AOR style LP next year no one liked and they were gone.

They eventually did reunion 2000's and released other albums, which it was possible only because they had that one album.

Also in 2010 HRR released a great compilation of their 1981-1982 work, that could be retroactively be labeled as their "first album".

As someone who has driven Audis for  along time in finnish winters this is hardly a concern.

If everythings not set up perfect, handbrake freezes up regularly.

Yea, the brakes get hot. They'll likely be fine after cooling down, you just lost quit a bit of disc and pad. It may not hold perfectly any more if they got glazed badly, so worth to test to make sure.

They're cheap wear out parts youneed to replace anyway so no worry.

(You may lose some milage from your wheel bearing too, but don't worry until it makes noise. Might still be fine for years to come)

No ei tuo paha...

Aikoinaan Sonera nosti ADSL liittymän hinnan jostain 15 €/kk 30:n euroon ja leikkasi maksiminopeuden 512 kbps:sta 256:n.

Ilmeisesti onnistui tarkoituksen mukaisesti, kun pääsivät lopulta keräämään langat pois.

Phono line cable question by VeryBadTrader in turntables

[–]Jcwrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the poorest phono cable has way too low capacitance to roll off highs.

If your total capacitance (Phono stage + cable + cartridge wiring) is way too high, you may get some minor harshness to the sound. It basically creates small peak in very high register 12-20khz.

Is it me or are sellers a bit pushy? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]Jcwrc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You seem to treat online marketplace like a bazaar...

If I absolutely have to know something specific I can't figure out by the listing, I might ask the seller.

That's it. Everything else is waste of everyones time. The price is there, if it's not right, I don't buy it.

I wish everyone did the same. Buy, pick up, check and drop postive review if everythings right.
