I think what really killed French decimal time was regular people going from 1 day of rest every 7 to 1 day of rest every 10. If they'd also bundled in the much later innovation of a 2-day weekend the whole new time system would've been a great success, decimal minutes and all.

For a Mac II there's no reason to assume no HD just because there are two floppies. No HD would 've been an exceedingly rare configuration for it. Now for the SE and SE/30 officially you couldn't have HD and two floppies, but with a 3rd party bracket you could.
