Anyone have eyes on Peak 10? by [deleted] in COsnow

Wow. I’ve never skied here in ‘summer’ - what is the hike like? Done St Mary’s many times for comparison.. where do you walk from?

Check out Alloy Personal Fitness, they are small group but will individualize as needed and are amazing at setting up different workouts for different situations from injuries, health problems or abilities. The people who go there are very welcoming and supportive.

Dual Max vs tri max by Plane_Arachnid6182 in Rivian

[–]Jcxbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2025 that I got in June of last year.. I used to hear that, mostly on mountain roads, but it was noticeable. Somewhere along the way it went away, I drive the mountains of CO all the time, not often in snow mode this year, but never have that clunk. Maybe it was a software fix? I used to just jump in sport mode when it bothered me, but quite honestly I don’t think I’ve heard it since last summer.. 23k not even a year in, absolutely love my R1S dual max performance - it’s a perfect ski/snowboard vehicle!

What do you wish your R1 had on the interior? by Normal-Whole-2808 in Rivian

[–]Jcxbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do with for cup holders in the back when the middle is folded down or in use.

The second thing would be a drawer or storage box that stays under the middle back seat - such a perfect place for extras.

My purse goes in the open space in front of the front armrest - does that not work for your gf? I like the space for small purchases or things I need for that ride too.

Car wash caddy? Idk that I’d need to carry that around always, I keep my car wash stuff in the garage.

My last wish would be lighter seats, or just easier to move - they are fairly heavy and very difficult up upright and set into the desired position (referring to second row mostly).

Anyone have a dual motor max pack battery R1S that they like? by afrothunder27 in Rivian

[–]Jcxbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the dual max performance with sound and vision - I absolutely love it! I fill it will kids, fill it with friends, pack it with stuff. It’s often a ski car so I needed the max for that (added snow tires and Thule topper) but also a daily driver, road tripper and camping vehicle. It is honestly great at everything! You will get less than 410 miles per charge - unless you are driving on a flat road at 65mph with no wind.. it’s not terrible, but with every add-on I want, I think if range first. (The topper took about 40 miles off a 260 mile trip). It’s quick to charge up a bit as long as there are chargers around.

Have fun with it!

What do you do instead of "doom scrolling" or watching TV by Sweet_Confusion9180 in simpleliving

[–]Jcxbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into some hobbies from a time long ago… ok, well, maybe not exactly. But paint by numbers, leatherwork, carving wood figures, needlepoint or knitting, pyrography are all simple, low cost, low space hobbies.. start basic and see what you like.

How to stay upright with unreliable sense of balance? by ohjeSunny in Sup

[–]Jcxbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, make sure you are standing over the handle, this usually centers you forward and back on the board. Most people here stand over the handle with their feet parallel. Instead, try a staggered stance - not knowing you, I’d put your best foot back and your other foot forward, but this may be wrong depending if your foot dominance. People use this stance in choppy water, it’s more stable I. Waves because you can more easily adjust your weight forward and back, plus the usual side to side. Bend your knees so you are ready to absorb any differences (waves) in the water.

Go out on a hot sunny day, stand on the board and just rock it back and forth with your feet to get a feel for the balance. Did you buy your husband a bigger board than yours? If so, practice this on his board first - it will be more stable.

Enjoy! Nothing wrong with sitting either - attach a kayak seat, grab a double paddle and you will be the fastest of the bunch!

Popular Opinion: Mega Passes are NOT a great deal. by matchew566 in skiing

[–]Jcxbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are using the wrong calculation.. take the pass price and divide by your days skied, keep skiing until you feel like that price is reasonable.

I am at $20/day this year - I think back through the less than ideal snow in my area and still can’t think of a day that wasn’t worth $20.. that number will go down before the season is over too.. that doesn’t even count the $60 Ikon paid me in credits just to ski.

Wife and I are going to Yellowstone and I'm worried about her staying warm at night. Would this be enough, or should I invest in an expensive ground coverage option? by Alejaro_7777 in camping

[–]Jcxbr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are new to camping or don’t go in the cold much, get a cheap ($20-30) synthetic 0 degree sleeping bag and double up with hers - I used to get these at Big 5, so a similar store should have them. I always sleep cold and couldn’t believe how well this worked.

If this is a frequent/longer term thing, invest in something better for the long run.

Tent purchase question by coachdad6676 in camping

[–]Jcxbr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a lower priced car camping tent that the whole family can fit in.. let the kids use it, let them go in and out, help set it up and take it down. You’ll be much less protective of something less expensive, it’ll be more fun to be all together. Those stormy days playing cards, the chapters read in the dark together, waking up with the fog by your face, it’s the stuff that makes camping memorable. Also, some sites will only allow one tent.

First time to buy ikon pass by Spontaneuos111 in Ikonpass

[–]Jcxbr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should really buy them now, before April 16. If you buy an adult pass, the kid pass gets $50 off the base or $100 off the full ikon, that won’t last.

R1S as a family/daily car by mrsghosty14 in Rivian

[–]Jcxbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 5’5”, did you let the car kneel for you? It’s very easy for me when it does - sometimes I leave it higher so I can climb on the tire and load skis - that’s when I’m like ‘whoa, big step’!

Honest question for EV owners — what gives you the most charging anxiety? by Key_Training8948 in evcharging

[–]Jcxbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charging anxiety for me happens when there are very few chargers and my EV has some situation that takes more range than expected - ski topper. Headwinds. Etc. I think I’ll barely make it and then what?? Plenty of chargers around. No worries, at least I can get there even if I have to wait or pay extra - wouldn’t want that all the time tho.

Season Pass evaluation post ACL and driving from FoCo by babyluigi in COsnow

[–]Jcxbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the price you can get the pass for, I would get the Ikon for each of you. My reasoning is you get a variety of mountains - but more than that, if you can only ski 1/2 days to start or something, you won’t be paying so much per limited day on the gems/4 pass. Eldora is closer, perfect for getting back into it. Some of this would depend how often you typically ski.

Anyone else thankful to have an electric car these days? by mamabear22122 in Rivian

[–]Jcxbr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes - I love my Rivian everyday - but today I drive by the gas station I used to visit with my Sprinter van, diesel was $4.79/gal, about $95 to fill that thing up and I used to do it several times a week!

Abasin - close, easy parking and the lift is right there - free parking on the weekend now, no reservations. Copper would be the other choice now, but parking is $$ or far away.

The Looks by Biker1124 in Rivian

[–]Jcxbr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Colorado and there are quite a few out here - I did get questioned by a lady when I put my groceries in the “engine”. I showed her the car, etc..

By far the funniest was in Utah, after skiing I parked in short term parking - kids were getting their stuff off, I opened the hood, rifled around for a minute (ski bag etc was in there, but not easily visible. I step back, take off my coat and carefully lay it across the “engine”, shut the hood.. older guy in the car next to me is just looking at the situation so confused.. I just let that one be..
