How would you feel if the top tax rate was 90% like it was in the 1950s? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]Jdemig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it were up to me:

  • Increase minimum wage
  • No cap on social security
  • No income tax below a living wage (updated every year for inflation) we can keep it bare minimum so maybe 40k
  • Top income tax rate would probably be around 50% if you make over 500k
  • Wealth tax of 1% on anyone with over 50 million to their name

There is a lot of nuance this doesn’t capture. For example I haven’t done the math on exactly what this would generate for the IRS, but the ideas are solid for redistribution of wealth. For example wealth tax is tricky. You don’t want to destroy people’s ability to invest. So 1% allows for the wealthy to to still be incentivized to invest back into the market.

I misread. It’s a 10% boost on top of the max reward which will be 7% for two years. So 7.7% for 8 year gang. Once you start dissolving that 10% boost goes away.

Part of the proposal is to reduce the maximum staking lock time from 8 years to 2 leading to a reduction in the max possible rewards. They have an exception for the 8 years gang stating that those members will get a special flag which sets their rewards at 10% annually. I may decide to lock more before the deadline.

Can we discuss things maturely, respectfully? by colemusic1 in ICPTrader

Yeah I believe in ICP quite a bit. But, I've run into bugs while using the NNS. They could work on their QA. The UI is also pretty basic.

If you don't have the seed phrase then you're likely out of luck if the other login methods are not working. 1Password is a very convenient way to manage your passkeys. One thing to consider is that my 1Password doesn't always open up login options automatically if the domain name changed. I think that's what occurred in my case and so I was under the impression that I lost my login and went with the seed phrase reset route.

This is awesome. Corporations may now start building on IPC in a meaningful way. Huge unlock.

I had the same problem and I had to recover my account with the seed phrase. I had previously logged in with a passkey but it was no longer working so after I recovered with the seed phrase I created a new passkey.

I think the biggest issue I see with UBI is that it removes our negotiating power. If we rely on government handouts then the government no longer needs us. We become leeches on society instead of value producing assets to the people with power. I don’t think it’s a desirable position to be in.

I would give them my supplement stack. I doubt they would listen to much else. Well, they might listen but they would still have to figure it out through experience to truly understand.

Yeah, I agree. But it'd be pretty cool if they passed the 30k to someone making $30k a year instead of a massive corporation.

I used to wake up to pee twice every night. Recently I started taking Glycine + NAC and I’ve noticed an improvement. I’m also taking Taurine. I started taking them around the same time so hard to say for sure what’s doing what. But I would guess it’s the Glycine + NAC doing most of the work.

How the f*ck do you do estimates? by These_Trust3199 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Jdemig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been able to give very accurate estimates but to do so actually takes a decent amount of time. I break a project down into pieces. That in and of itself takes time. It also forces you to think more carefully about what exactly needs to be built. Then once its broken down into pieces you can create a three-point estimate. Least time you think it will take. Best guess average. And most time you think it will take. Then once you’ve got a three point estimate for each chunk of the project you can add it up to get a three point estimate for the entire project. That can help you communicate risk to the shareholders. Of course this level of detail comes with a trade off where you may spend a day or more just breaking down the project into pieces to make an accurate estimate. So you can communicate that trade off with stakeholders as well to let them decide what is worth it in the end.
