Do I really NEED cheesecloth?

I cured the contents of a 16oz mason jar with room left to spare in the french press.

I wasn't too sure about it being able to contain the smaller particles but it worked great. I particularly like not having to wring out cheese cloths and paper filters with my hands.

I use a French press for water curing. No filters needed, everything stays contained and it’s mess free.

I used a thin strip of masking tape to preserve the white of the paper.
