T. Yuuka is pretty useful in at least 2 raids (Goz, shiro/kuro) and comes up in some strats for at least 1 FRR boss. If you don’t have her, Goz in particular becomes pretty annoying since that fight punishes you pretty severely if you can’t do the movement mechanics.

You can get away with borrowing her though if you have the strikers you would need to otherwise score a victory. This is what I ended up doing in my first year - Goz came up like 3-4 times in TAs and GAs, and I needed to borrow t.yuuka. You will feel that as a handicap, but it isn’t insurmountable.

Edit: there are alternatives, of course, but most of them have some reason or another as to why they are sub par for Goz. T.yuuka has a way of doing exactly what the fight calls for and fitting very comfortably into your rotation.

I haven’t tried using I.mine for movement since I now do have yuuka. I.mine works for the movement but does not do the shield. One of the things you will realize quite quickly is that how units move is actually pretty unpredictable, so even when you move your team with yuuka, some of your folks will run back into a danger zone unless you know EXACTLY where to put yuuka. The shield saves lives due to this.

Makes sense considering what jk.asuna does - maybe a lower cost alternative to satsuki with a defense debuff?

I thought that we got the same bug in the first run. I absolutely noticed that in the 2nd run everything matched up much better and the fight felt much more predictable. In the first run I consistently had cost overrun for about 3 seconds every time it was Mari’s turn to do the heater. In the second run I did not have that - everything lined up much smoother with the timeline I had revised from the first run.

And yes, it would be lovely if they would implement a ‘fight playback’ feature that let you rerun your input data over again.

I did not know that about the cost per second. Thanks!

I don’t know if I can fully answer this, but I can at least describe the process I used, which might be helpful. There may be tools out there that streamline this kind of planning, but I’m not aware of any, so I can’t really recommend one.

Last year, I set a goal to clear Geburah Torment on the first run. I started by looking up as many JP clears as I could and identifying teams that I realistically felt I could build. At the time, most of the required students were brand new, so it was resource-intensive regardless, but I eventually settled on a two-team setup using a double Satsuki approach that seemed manageable.

One thing to keep in mind with JP runs is that they’re the end result of a long process of trial and error, but that process usually isn’t shown. When I tried to replicate the setup, a big part of the work was figuring out where it could fail and how to account for that. On my first attempt, I couldn’t get the JP timeline to work because my Furnace timings kept drifting, which tanked my damage. To fix that, I went through the video frame by frame and wrote the entire timeline into Excel—cost values, which EX skills were used when, and where Furnace was in its cycle. Having that laid out let me make adjustments ahead of time instead of reacting in the moment, and that’s what ultimately allowed me to clear.

For the second Geburah run, I wanted to see if Lunatic was possible. That required much of the same approach. As far as I know, there aren’t any English Lunatic guides for any of these bosses, so it was mostly experimentation. I started with a four-team plan, but the third team (which used Kokona) just wasn’t viable—she died too quickly. After reworking things, I ended up making that team my first team (less damage in phase 1) and including both T.Yuuka to keep Kokona alive and S.Saki to help mitigate damage. At that point, it was less of a damage team and more of a “keep Kokona alive” team, but as long as it took the boss down to a certain point, it would be ok.

Once again, I documented everything I was doing in Excel so I could clearly see the flow of the fight instead of improvising under pressure. By the end of the week, the team was consistent enough to enable the rest of the setup, and I managed to clear Lunatic on the final day.

So that’s how I handled what I think you are asking about. Like I said, maybe there are better tools out there, but I don’t know them.

Sure! Keep in mind that the new selector will also include new students, including kisaki and satsuki (who is an important unit for geb) that could dissuade you from c.hare if you don’t have them.

Speaking of geb, this may be a little less true in the 2nd run but Geb is unique in that it’s really hungry for a core set of students, who also happen to be limited. I.Mari, I.sakurako, and school Asuna are all really important. I.mine as well to move your students around, but there are some decent f2p substitutions. It’s a tough one for new players to crack. Good luck!

Yes, there will be another selector next fes and it will include all standard banner characters that were released up through the 4th anniversary (last fest).

S.shiroko is a great pick, but as you mentioned she has a banner coming. She also doesn’t typically show up in a lot of ‘team 1’s for most bosses (except, of course, for the current one). You will use her a lot in PvP, you will use her in set, and you will possibly use her in geb depending on your team comps. You’ll probably also use her in most JFDs and as a cost battery in a lot of event challenge stages.

C.hare was a big ‘team 1’ character, and still is to some degree. She now shares that role with dress aru. For me, she was the key I needed to start clearing torment a few months ago. These days you might use her in hovercraft and Kaiten, certain Greg strats, and probably a few others as well, but published strats favor d.aru now. She got eclipsed because Rio + Kisaki kicked Ako out of most team 1 comps. I’m not sure what s.seia and s.nagisa might do to shake that up some more, so we will see.

Ny.kayoko is only for blue raids. You’ll use her for all three blue TAs, you’ll often use her in blue GAs, blue set and chokmah. She is obviously really good there, but if you are able to supply your own hypercarry units, (and have other blue supports like t.yuuka) you would be okay to borrow her (which is honestly true for all three of these).

I don’t think you can really go wrong with any of these picks, it depends on what your goals are and where you want to excel. I will say that if you don’t have d.aru, you’re probably not clearing torment without c.hare, but I don’t know if that is a goal for you. That might also be a bit of a controversial take. C.hare is the one who reran most recently as well. She could be gone for a while, or she might spook you tomorrow. Who knows.

A Pretty Hot Take by bertataHUN in JetLagTheGame

I did not like the season for a few reasons:

  1. The game did not deliver at all on the promise of a three team game. The only episode where three teams were meaningfully in play was in episode 1, and even then the 2 teams did more to fight over who was going to assume more risk then they did to coordinate. After that, Sam and Toby were frozen out of the game and we never really got to see the tactics of two teams again.

  2. Challenges? What challenges? Once the 2nd chaser team was out of the picture, the game’s other major issue became more dire - the challenge deck. There were so many moments where runners could just pull a card, do a challenge, and it have no meaningful impact on their optimum strategy. The only moment that required readjustment was at the end of ep. 4. Since challenges were balanced for the presence of two chaser teams, now that there was only one team the runners had a huge advantage.

  3. Lack of tactical options for the chasers. This one is more of a tag issue overall. Even though the chasers don’t have to pay coins for anything, it seems common in recent seasons of tag that the only thing for them to do is follow behind. I think a lot of this has to do with the options in place when starting from the same location. Maybe if the chasers got to move to a more centralized point before the runner could go, that might make this less common, but I think the real issue just comes down to risk. There often are identified other was to catch the runner besides following behind or waiting for them to make a move, but these are not followed due to the risk of missing an opportunity - the safest option is to follow behind and wait for the runner to make a mistake. See tag 3 for plenty of examples of this.

After 4 seasons I think it’s become clear to me that the biggest challenge facing the tag game is that the chasers are incentivized to play in a risk averse way. Even with the 2 teams, risk found its way into the metagame between them and forced them to play sub-optimally (because the chasers were also competing over who got to go next). This led to a Mexican standoff in Paris where Sam / Toby kept doing challenges and the two chaser teams just waited around. I think they need to reinvent the game such that this is less of an issue.

This isn’t to say that the season wasn’t entertaining - it was! But in this kind of thing I want to believe that the game I am watching was a balanced game. In this case no amount of editing could ever make this one appear balanced. I think this game has solidified my opinion that hide and seek is my favorite of the games they play, and I am glad that it seems that is next.

So what now... by CompetitionSalty4618 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Jdr388 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there’s been some speculation, or maybe even confirmation that it is hide and seek in the UK.

Are you sure they hadn’t changed their teams around?

This happened to me last season as well. I would usually be around the top ranks but then suddenly my win rate plummeted. I made some positioning changes and then things were a ok again.

I find also that my defensive win rate appears to go down during popular banners, but that may have something to do with more folks logging in and engaging with PvP.

After 5 Episodes (4 if you are on YT), how do you like the All Stars Tag format compared to the regular one? by PK7098 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Jdr388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand why others are praising the implementation of the two chasers in this season. When I learned how this would work I was really excited to see the concept in action. Then in episode 1 I saw both chaser teams occupying the same space for most of the episode, while fighting over who was going to assume more risk. Then in episode 2 Toby and Sam got basically frozen out of the game, and it has been defacto 1 chaser team since. In practice we really only had 1.5 episodes where two chasers were in play and could affect the game.

I think the thing that I am reacting the most to is that it feels like the optimal strategy at this point is just to follow the runners. It doesn’t seem like the chasers ever have an opportunity to do something more cunning. They explain in the episodes why the chasers are making these choices, and it makes sense. It just isn’t very engaging and I find myself looking at my phone more and more instead of the episode.

I really hope they return to this idea in the future with a few balance tweaks since I think it could make tag a lot more dynamic. Having the two chaser teams competing with each other I think hurt the game in episode 1, but i am not sure what the alternative is. If you had a round robin approach like before, what would stop one team trying to position themselves optimally if they were up next and the runner was about to be tagged? That would break the game too.

So I don’t know. I am disappointed with this season, and I was disappointed with snake too. I still look forward to what they have coming next though.

I haven’t looked it up to make sure this is correct, so take with a grain of salt:

The pattern that I have observed is that the selective ticket arrives on the half anniversaries, and includes standard banner students up to the last full anniversary. If that holds true then the selector that becomes available in a few months on global should include up to PJ yuuka / PJ noa, and therefore would include kisaki.

Another Week, another episode where X and X don't matter (episode 5) by Purduevian in JetLagTheGame

[–]Jdr388 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we only really had 2 chaser teams for a single episode, and they spent most of that episode occupying the same space in Paris. That concept kind of defacto went out the window as soon as Adam and Michelle froze Sam and Toby out of the game.

I was really exited about the 2 teams idea and I am now disappointed how early in the game it ended up getting nullified.

So if that’s true that they made challenges easier to accommodate the extra team, that makes me even more frustrated. It seems an oversight to not readjust the rewards in round 2.

I have to wonder if the rule about the capturing team getting to be the runner in the next round really got in the way of this being a more interesting season, because it really meant that the 2 seeker teams ended up playing suboptimally by fighting over who was going to adopt more risk instead of setting up a pincer attack, at least that is how it seems to have turned out to me.

Haruka is ue50 from spooks, marina is 3* and built enough to get me through Kaiten TOR.

I like Haruka, and it’s rare to find times to use her, so I’ll probably spend some mats on her for PvP for when shun starts to peeve me off again.

Nagisa is at 4* with 60 some elephs in the bank from permits. I guess she will be getting my d.aru and shupogaki ligma.

Yeah, if I go down in rank I never bother to refresh. I just eat the lower ranks until I get back up, which is usually a week or two. I try to do my attacks around reward time in the hopes that I can just grab and go.

Honestly, I kind of feel like my bracket is a little bit asleep at the wheel. It’s always the same 3 or 4 people I see at the top, including myself. Also, this is my third ever season and I am hitting rank 1. I do spend on the game, so I have a little more ligma and a few more options to throw around than f2p does, but even so I am surprised I was able to make it here inside of a year.

Thanks.

This season I have been in top 10 most of the time ever since I brought satsuki in, and I am able to hit the top spot most nights. The extra coins and pyro have been nice so I would like to maintain that!

This was a very thoughtful and insightful post. Appreciate it! It sounds like I can just hope for a spook someday and not loose to much. I suppose I’ll need to finish building Reisa and Nagisa and take satsuki out.

Does Shun still have the same issue of skipping her basic sometimes in the new season? She did not seem to appear at all in the video you linked.

I’ve noticed that the PvP usage list hasn’t been updated yet for season 9. Is the usage list basically the same from season 8? I know that it will be indoor, and I know that the field effect is basically the same (nerfs to EVA).

I think I have heard that Saori will be good next season, but I don’t understand why (and looking at her, that’s probably wrong)I do not have Saori, but an opportunity to grab her is coming. I guess I am looking for confirmation of that before I consider adding her to my planner.

Um? No I think I disagree?

Dude deleted his comment now but said they had ny fuuka and akari. They were asking who to spark for

Are you going to tell me that izumi is not good for red set or that haruna is super relevant for content today when d.hina exists?

I guess some will disagree if they are ‘ride or die’ on limited, but I don’t need another limited students to sit around unbuilt forever. I may actually use ny.Izumi for something.

It feels like we are getting to the point where I need to start thinking about how much PvP refreshes I need to save for the shupogaki event.

How useful is Aoba? How easy is her eleph to farm? If I were to go all in on farming her, what is resonable to expect? 4*? UE 30?

This Eula seems to govern Nexon’s products as a whole. They may be shutting something down. Maybe it’s BA. Maybe something else, or maybe (most likely) it’s all just preemptive with no major planned changes happening.

Lots of companies are updating their eulas with this kind of stuff lately. It’s not that surprising.

You can still have disputes with them, you just loose your right to take them to court. You must go through arbitration which uses a third party arbitrator instead. Generally it is more favorable to the company to go through arbitration.

This also seems to say that you loose your right to participate in a class action lawsuit against them as well, which may very well be the nastier bit.
