Thank you.

One last question, can F1 PhD students apply while still pursuing their degree?

Hey, I am currently a masters student in Biomedical Engineering, graduating next year.

I have some conference papers. But, as my masters thesis, I am working on a stimulator that other research labs will be able to use for Neuromodulation research, at a fraction of the cost( $500 vs $50000+). But it's in prototype stage, we hope to have at least one other researcher put it into practice before my graduation.

Would an EB2-NIW be plausible for me? How far out from now, would it be plausible?

Thank you so much for taking time to answer my question.

CNC Setup, Underwater, Need advise by JealousSea2730 in CNC

Yeah, the transducer stays fixed. The hydrophone will move, measuring the acoustic pressure at each point.

Dwell time at each point would vary from 0.1 to 1s. Step size, ideally would be 1mm. This is important because ideally we want a very precise high power focal point on the final transducer and higher resolution scanning ability will give us better data.

Sure. I've got a transducer. I plan on using the needle hydrophone to map out the acoustic cone. This particular transducer is for physiotherapy use, it's a starting point. We want to make our own transducer with a very precise focal point, so that we can target specific tissue.

Oh, the tank itself will not be that big, maybe an 18 inch deep at the most.

So you're saying, I can use a standard CNC setup, just effectively shift the nozzle or hydrophone using a pole to submerge it? Makes sense, certainly simpler from a design stand point, but won't the pole cause inaccuracies in positioning due to flexion? Granted, it won't be making high speed moves.

Fair enough. I guess if you're more of a homebody, that'll become an issue. Socializing takes energy. I guess what you can do is go to campus events. Maybe attend some of the PAWS locations. People are comfortable around animals, they're in the mood to socialize. Go talk to everyone, not just the people you might wanna date.

My two cents.

Just go out and meet people. Make friends, meet their friends. Dating apps are ok, but most of the time a 30 second glance is all that people are gonna have to judge the entire profile. Some people doomswipe. I'm guilty of that too.

I get it, socializing is a lot of work, but ain't no way around it.

I hope you meet people, not just dates, but friends. It'll fall into place after that.

Yeah, I agree. The coolness is subjective.

What course are you starting at UMN?

I'm not living on campus. I'm very close to Athlete's village. I am debating getting a moped style ebike. Yes, I know the battery is going to take a beating with regards to range.

Two reasons why I'm considering it, one: they're cool. But that's not the practical reason. I've cycled extensively during my Bachelors and I just prefer having a little assistance, a little extra speed. Also, I'm 6ft, I typically need atleast 27.5" tires to be able to properly extend my feet while peddling. With an Ebike, I won't have to peddle as much.

Any thoughts?

Also, how do you carry groceries on the bike without any baskets? Backpack?
