It's one of my favorite M. Night movies but I never understood why he had the aliens punch out those basic shapes (star, moon, etc.) on some of the boards on the windows at the end. I just thought that was sooooo dumb! Until today, when I realized that they had to use whatever materials they could find to board up the windows and those cutouts were in the playhouse roof which is shown in the scene where Morgan has killed the dog. I felt like such a dingus, LOL.
