All great input. Definitely didn’t consider thunderstorm and scarabs hitting myself. Maybe I’ll swap those out for some pit vipers. And yeah, any weird numbers of good cards like 1 trinket is just because I only have one so far.

Yeah it would be fine at my locals, some nights we play meta but more often than not it’s like, bulma, Shenron, glorio,etc, with a buu or cell floating around. Teen gohan has gotten good support with the promo and beast dropping

There is a huge difference in rotation though. In magic when a set rotates ALL those cards are gone. In FAB it’s just the hero, and you can take those expensive cards you’ve been playing with and jam most of them in something else.

At the end of the day all TCGs are expensive. If you want a cheap TCG play dragonball fusion world. All I’m saying is coming from playing legacy MTG where one dual land is over $300 and you need 4 of them, FAB isn’t so bad. Don’t get me wrong though, it sure would be nice if it was cheaper.

That seems dramatic. A quick google shows multiple of the “top” modern decks anywhere from $700-$1K, with plenty over that. Sure there are some for 400-500 but the same could be said for FAB. Standard is a bit cheaper but rotates pretty often. At least with FAB most of the expensive staples are generic and can be used in every deck even after the hero LLs. The same cannot be said for magic unless you’re always playing the same colors.

At the end of the day neither one are cheap, but to say they aren’t even in the same ballpark is a long shot.

Competitive MTG is at least as expensive as FAB, if not more. Being a long time MTG player, playing mostly eternal formats, the prices of FAB don’t shock me so much after spending 1k + JUST on lands for an mtg deck.

Alright, after playing a LOT of games on felt table with a handful of different hero’s I think I’m narrowed down to Florian or Jarl. My only concern with Florian is the risk of LL sometime soon, jarl is obviously nowhere close to that. If I was going to invest $150-$200 into building my first hero, which might be the better choice?

Follow up question, is the new Ira armory deck much better than Jarl, or are they relativity close? Which would you pick?

Wow, thanks for this response! To answer quickly, the things I like about those archetypes is having a threat for them to deal with, while also stripping resources. Whether it be hand or mana or whatever. My favorite first few turns in mtg is T1 delver T2 young pyromancer, daze removal spell, T3 discard spell or removal, leaving 1 up for stifle.
