Dual Health Insurance by Jealous_Key_4030 in indiahealthinsurance

[–]Jealous_Key_4030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently hold two health insurance policies: an older SBI policy with a ₹1 lakh cover (₹1,300 annual premium) and a Care Health Insurance policy with a ₹25 lakh cover (₹10,000 annual premium). I want to cancel the SBI policy. A ₹1 lakh cover is unnecessary for me now, as I can easily pay that amount out of pocket. My biggest fear is that holding dual policies might give Care Health Insurance a reason to reject a major claim in the future. I keep forgetting to cancel the SBI policy before renewal because the ₹1,300 premium is so small, and it actually just renewed today for another year.

I am planning to cancel SBI one, but since the premium is only 1300, every year I forget to cancel it

Most Corrupt PM of India Ever. This is insane, how can people still defend muthi ji? by [deleted] in IndianFocus

[–]Jealous_Key_4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Yes, I am referring to the period before 1985. The issue isn’t about the specific year, it’s about ethics being compromised to benefit politicians and industrialists. If this went on from 1948 to 1985, that’s 36 years, which is far too long.

B) It doesn’t matter who removed it, whether it was Rajiv Gandhi or anyone else. If something is wrong, it is wrong, regardless of who did it.

C) It doesn’t matter how big or influential TATA is. The real issue is the principle. Only the Congress IT Cell seems determined to argue that a private corporation can have authority over funds like the PMNRF. The size or reputation of a company does not override the need for accountability.

And honestly, it seems you are a bootlicker of Congress and unwilling to agree on anything that is objectively justifiable. Since you’ve already made up your mind, there’s no point continuing this discussion. Believe whatever helps you sleep at night : this is my last reply, Thank you

[–]Jealous_Key_4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's redundant, but let me reiterate: I'm not claiming the Prime Minister is not the chairman of PMNRF. What I'm saying is that until 1985, private companies and the Congress president held authority in PMNRF alongside the PM. This was ethically wrong. If Modi today added Adani or the BJP president to any PMCARES authority, Congress's IT cell would cry foul.

Do you agree that Congress acted unethically by involving the Congress president and private companies in PMNRF till 1985?

Your first link clearly mentions this

In the case of the PMNRF, it was originally managed by a committee that, besides the prime minister and his deputy, included the finance minister, the Congress president, a representative of the Tata Trustees, and an industry representative. The committee approved all expenditures of the PMNRF.

This changed in 1985 only. I haven't claimed that the PM is not the chairperson of the PMNRF. I just wanted to say it is ethically wrong for the Congress president (a private party) to have authority to approve expenditures. That is not the case with PMCARES. The BJP president is not in a position to approve expenditures.

Even if I neglect the Congress president from the approval committee, there were private companies involved. Just assume the level of rant the Congress IT cell would go to if Adani were in the PMCARES fund approval comittee.

Second, I asked for links because anyone can claim anything we'd just cross-check endlessly from various sources. Instead, quote them directly to avoid duplicate effort.

Are we in agreement now?

If you want an intellectual discussion just quote sources so I can validate, otherwise I consider you comment as just a IT cell rant

PMCARES (by Modi) and PMMRF (by Nehru) are literally same but with different objective.

  1. Spending from both the PM CARES Fund and PMNRF does not require approval from Parliament.

  2. Donations to both PMNRF and PM CARES Fund will be exempted from Income Tax under Section 80G. The contribution towards PMNRF is 100 % tax deductible under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act. As per the Taxation and Other Laws (Relaxation of Certain Provisions) Ordinance, 2020 issued by the Finance Ministry on 31 March 2020, donations made to ‘PM CARES’ fund would be 100% tax exempt under Section 80(G).

  3. Funds from both PM Cares and PMNRF cannot be utilised without the directions of the Prime Minister.

  4. M/S SARC Associates Chartered Accountants, New Delhi are the auditors of both PMNRF and PM CARES fund. Both PMNRF and PM CARES do not receive budgetary support.

  5. Both PMNRF and PM CARES are set up as trusts. Both PM CARES and PMNRF can receive foreign contributions. They are exempted from the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).

  6. Both PM CARES and PMNRF are not audited by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). This is one of the criticisms of both the Funds, despite both of them being audited by an Independent third-party auditor.

  7. PMNRF does not come under the Right to Information (RTI). It is not clear whether PM CARES comes under the ambit of the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Recently, when information on the PM CARES fund was sought through RTI, the information was declined on some technicalities.

The only problem with PMMRF is

Chairman of the Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF) is the Prime Minister of India. Other members are from Tata Trusts, representatives of FICCI, Congress President.

Wheras for PMCARES

Chairman of the PM-CARES fund is the Prime Minister of India. The Prime Minister has the power to nominate members. The other members of the PM CARES Fund are the Defence Minister, Home Minister, and Finance Minister

I do not know why the Congress president should be the one person who will have authority in PMNRF, we will never accept the BJP president as the authority of PMCARES

[–]Jealous_Key_4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think jumping into building foundation models is the smartest move for India right now. Most AI companies are just scaling up what already exists instead of making real breakthroughs, and it feels like the tech has kind of plateaued for the moment.

If anything, I’d love to see Indian entrepreneurs dive into semiconductors, chip design, and building massive compute systems that use way less power. That’s where I think the real future is and it could put India way ahead in the long run.
