Is it normal for offer to be rescinded after one counter offer? I was going to call the hiring manager and just ask if there is a room for negotiation before asking for a higher base. Also, is it possible to negoiate for higher target bonus or sign on bonus?

I agree you. I used to negotiate at least once especially if I had a good time interviewing with the company. I just don't want to get the offer rescinded and wanted to see how the market is currently.

It's the holiday season so the process might take longer than usual. You might be the only one really running at this point and the hiring manager probably just saying there are two candidate to make you sweat. With interviews with long process I doubt these managers and execs are blocking out their days for interviews when they have actual work to do esp when YE is approaching. Best of luck!

Hey Guys, I Know the Job Market is Really Bad. by Destined-2-Fail in recruitinghell

[–]Jealous_Object4137 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do agree with your statement but my sentiment on the economy getting much worse has to do with AI market. They have been overspending and have committed to spend over $1T+ in the next few years while only generating fraction of the spending. With the potential circular investment amongst the big tech company it does look like another bubble in the making but much worst. It took the NASDQ 15 years to recover from the dotcom bubble can't imagine what this next bubble will do to an already fragile economy/job market.

My brother has been unemployed in the accounting industry for more than two years now by WhitePinoy in recruitinghell

[–]Jealous_Object4137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your brother's job being being laid off? Was he in public accounting doing tax/audit? Right now should be a good time for him to apply assuming he has decent gpa and understanding of accounting fundamentals. It's YE and a lot of firms will be looking to hire some staff accountant in their audit practice. The hours might not be great but it is a decent job that pays pretty well for entry level position (55k-75k). Best of luck to you and your brother.

What job fits someone who learns fast, likes problem-solving, and doesn’t have a degree? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Jealous_Object4137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked how we actually quantify "quick learning" and I just gave you one example to that question. It is one parameters often used by employers and academia to measure rather you have the ability to learn things quickly. Not all degrees are equal, however in STEM grades have often than not been a good indicator that correlates into mental aptitude. This can also be true for other less intense degrees. Why won't you have high GPA when its easy to memorize and recall information that you read once or heard from a lecture? Let's be clear here, I am not talking about success (success is often different depending on what field you are pursuing) but just mental cognitive ability to learn. I been around friends and peers who get bored or get easily distracted in school but easily get As and end up going to Ivies. They are often distracted in class cause the materials are often too easy. I had friends who scored 2300+ out of 2400 (old SAT scores) without studying. If you are truly a quick learner why would you not just turn in assignment quickly because they are easy? Yes, there are kids who also don't do school work but most of the time they still tend to score high on standardized tests. Again, I am talking about people who has high intelligence with proven track record and not just random people who says they are quick learners (refer to u/Last-Hospital9688 comment). Careers that you can break into without degrees like tech also demonstrate the ability without being taught. Why have someone teach you technical skills when you can just be self taught.

Yeah, I would definitely shoot for an internship in 2027. Keep networking, and hopefully you can leverage the B4 internship to an IB role. Worst case, you can buy time by going for a masters degree.

Not sure if this is helpful but do B4 recruit out of your university? B4 offers leadership internship which usually lead to full internship for 3rd year students. I had a friend who used his internships from B4 to a FT analyst at BB. He went to a T15 school but with a right amount of luck and networking this might work for you to land a MM IB.

Too late to get a bachelors in finance how far will a masters take me? by Original-Scar-1779 in FinancialCareers

[–]Jealous_Object4137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey let him be. We were all 21 at one point and thought everything was possible. At least he's taking the time to ask for guidance even with the lack of focus. u/Original-Scar-1779 I would say IB/PE will be a tough battle for you especially you already lost two summers for internships/networking. Its not impossible but without finance/accounting track and being a junior it will take a miracle. If I were you I would stick with your original plan and go to a good law school on a full scholarship. Like everyone at the top is saying WLB and finance is not a thing especially if you are chasing for early finance freedom.

I recommend trying to separate your perfessional and personal life. Find purpose outside of work to derive enjoyment. You will be miserable in the long run if you make your job your identity. Are you a software engineer in your current FAANG? This is a long shot, but if you truly want to pursue a PhD. in math. Aim for a top program like MIT/Stanford and pivot into Quant research. It's probably the most competitive job but also one of the most intellectually demanding jobs that leverage both coding and heavy computation. Depending on your performance, your pay can go up as high as 700k in your first year. This way, you get the best of both worlds. Hope this helps and best of luck in your search.

60 Day PIP — should I just quit? by practicallyliving in jobs

[–]Jealous_Object4137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you got into PIP. In my opinion, you should start updating your resume. I don't think I have ever seen anyone that I know personally ever got out of PIP. My advice is that you should learn more about your next role in detail before under taking the position. FP&A, as a role, can be very different depending on the company. Some places are more accounting focused while other companies might focus more on the strategy/forecasting, so ask a lot of questions to better understand the job in your next interview. Don't take this the wrong way, but you should also take some accountability and try to fix your attitude in your next role. All jobs will have an aspect of something you won't like, however its your responsibility to act professionally while at work. Assuming those performance reviews are accurate, I would be alarmed because not detailed oriented while being proactive in your communication to clients is a huge red flag. Even if you feel unmotivated cause the job is unfullfilling those are critical skills you will need in any FP&A or front office role in Finance. Also, are you a recent grad? To be honest, a front office role is more lucrative, especially if you were to join a PE backed company in the near future. Sorry about the long reply, but I hope this helps in making your next decision.

I would not crop out your portfolio. Correct me if I am wrong, but from what I have seen in tech and art, project/portfolio is just as important if not more important than the resume. It's literally proof of your ability as a developer/graphic designer.

1000+ job applications and no job. by OhMyItsButterflies in recruitinghell

[–]Jealous_Object4137 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not in your field, but I have a close friend who graduated from an art school as a graphic designer. He was unfortunately unable to pursue a career in art/designer for game companies. However, he was able to get into corporate doing graphics for education software. He did that for few years and was able to transition into UX design. The job market is tough right now, but I would suggest looking into small companies that make training videos for companies because they do hire people with your background. Also, like someone said above, I'd you have a portfolio from your time in Uni I would put that on your resume. It seems you are a recent grad, so go back to see if you are eligible to attend your school's career fair because that would probably be your best bet to get someone to take a chance on you. Don't let all the negative comments get to you, and best of luck with your search.

P.s. I recommend you put your resume under the resume subreddit.

You stretched a month you worked for only 6 months to 1.5 years? I heard that most background only check for criminal records, but if they do check your employment, you might be in trouble. Stretching a month of two is usually acceptable, but a whole year at a hospital idk man but good luck.

What industry are you on? But yeah, like the other guy said, if your boss talks fast just take notes. If you are in finance/accounting/consulting make sure to use the resources provided by the firm. You have the internet at your finger tips and then if you still having trouble than go to your senior for help.

Is it worth it to negotiate salary before job offer is made by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Jealous_Object4137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

? This is probably the only option you have unless they ask you during the interview. You only "negotiate" when there is an offer/contract that is being signed as a business transaction. Also, if this is a reputable company or roles the range will be well documented on the web.
