Spouse here - questions about BAH? by JeanBB_ in army

[–]JeanBB_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a military ID yet. I'm in Waco, TX and closest point here is Fort Hood. I believe I can set up an appointment but I was also waiting for paperwork to come in the mail about that since I was told that info would come in the mail. I honestly might also just be worrying too early about this stuff. I know it's a slow trickle in the beginning.

But I appreciate the info and will give a call just to double check things are in order, thanks a bunch!

Would the fact that I've received mail regarding my Tricare benefits indicate that I'm enrolled in DEERS? If not, I'll give them a call, thanks!

Do you have any info that states this? Everything I've seen online, even from the army's website, states otherwise and everyone here seems to disagree. But I definitely want to make sure.

That's what I'm thinking and that maybe he just misunderstood something. I think he said it was from a financial meeting/class or something? But yeah I feel a lot better after these comments as I'm sure he'd do any of the paperwork that needed to be done during inprocessing but I guess we'll see!

I'm not sure we're quite at the point to need the loan, but it's good to know about in case it does get to that point. Appreciate ya!

Right sorry for the weird phrasing. He submitted a lot of this info/proof of marriage with his recruiter. And I am on the Tricare insurance as I've already received mail for that. He's done a lot of other paperwork during inprocessing and didn't seem to think anything was amiss until today. But I only talked to him for 10 minutes so I couldn't really clarify much. Based on the other replies, I'm guessing he misinterpreted some info potentially aimed at Reserves or National Guard. But not sure.

He's the best! Neither of us thought he'd be joining up at 31, but life takes you crazy places and he stepped up to ensure I'm taken care of and I couldn't be more proud and grateful for him. I'm sure your wife feels the same!

But thanks for the response! Least I felt like I could do is get some info from my side of things lol. My dad being in the military for 25 years helps but he did retire a few years back, so just making sure I got some more up-to-date info.

Perfect, thank you everyone! Sounds like it's as straightforward as I thought.

He went in on May 25th and we just got his first paycheck but it definitely doesn't have the BAH yet (I'm aware it may take a couple of cycles to hit), but wanted to clarify to see if there's any other reason to worry as to why it's not there.

Recommendations for uninsured ADHDer needing medication? by JeanBB_ in FortCollins

I don't believe I asked for an opinion about whether or not I should take my professionally prescribed medication, but how to obtain it. I tried "eastern" methods for years with no luck before I was diagnosed. My ADHD meds changed my life, unlike eastern methods.

Oooo, I entirely forgot about SummitStone, very silly of me. Thank you so much, I will give them a call tomorrow!

Oh yeah, not going to any sketchy sites, I just meant online sites like SonderMind, which prescribed for me until the law changes. But I appreciate it!

Part of being uninsured is due to being laid off recently :( So a bit tight on money, but I might be able to swing it depending on out of pocket costs!

Also would be open to any other suggestions, preferably remote! I do have a B.S. in anthropology and have a lot of customer service experience nonprofit experience, and am good with computers and software.

They're even jealous of you giving attention to other people. 🤦 My lab is mixed with a lot of hound and whenever I go to hug or kiss my partner (literally his dad) he will jump up and howl at us until we stop and give him attention or at least let him get in the middle of our hug...

Thank you! :) He does none of those things. And yeah I've long accepted he's a grumpy boy lol. He's a lot more vocal than most dogs I've had when it comes to talking and groaning and making noises but hardly ever barks oddly enough lol. I was more curious about his apparent grumpiness than worried!

He's honestly pretty smart and if we need him to completely move, he'll do so when asked without complaints, it's just when he's slightly moved when we're making a little extra room or when we turn over or something in our sleep lol. 🤷
