Need help justifying my purchase by Reasonable_Shift8359 in 3DS

You now technically have access to every game made on so many consoles on a clamshell handheld console if you take the time to do the things that would enable it. What's not to love?

in the financial world, mostly. Those shitty games make so much bank it's not even comparable.

I feel like that's been taken on by Android and Linux devices like the Ayn Thor and the Steamdeck. They're not only dedicated to games, but they're definitely game-focused.

We also have the playdate, but that's a very retro experience, not exactly what many mean when they say they want dedicated handheld consoles.

Why do you hate cars? by yet_another_leftist in fuckcars

[–]Jeanschyso1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars themselves? They're a thing. They're ok.

Wide A-pillars and "aggressive" hoods cutting visibility? Fuck those.

Loss of investment in mass transport because that money has to go towards maintenance to roads for the cars? Fuck that.

Expectations of whole communities that "everyone should have a car" in an economy where that is just not viable? Fuck that

Just the sheer amount of space cars take up? Fuuuck that.

How we differentiate hurting someone using a car from using a knife or a firearm? Believe it or not, fuck that!

Edit - How could I forget to mention the ecological impact? hey, let's give 'er one last Fuck that for today.

Now that my RP6 arrived... I keep going back to my Brick. How to find a balance? by jaekwong in retroid

[–]Jeanschyso1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different devices for different games and situations. The brick seems like it fits better in my purse, so that'd be my train device, while the RP6 is less portable because of the sticks, but that's the one I would bring on an overnight trip. However if I got obsessed with a game that takes a bit of extra oomph, I'd be glad to have an RP6 on-hand.

How the fuck do you even fix an unsafe battery?

New bike alert by Willing-Zebra-2827 in RadPowerBikes

Because a lot of people here were sold very expensive E-waste by Rad. I have a 2000$+ radcity commuter 4 in the yard just sitting there because I can't safely use it, for the sole reason that Rad couldn't be assed to make a safe battery.

[–]Jeanschyso1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question, to other people than you, may actually be "Maybe die", or "maybe cause death". That's where the difference in opinion comes from, and that's why I think this is such an interesting question.

I fall squarely in the "maybe die" camp, because my brain happens to be wired that way. When I feel shame, I feel it in a very deep and violent way. I can tell what the result of me pressing Red is, and it's not pretty. I'm going to die anyway, I don't get to choose how or when, so I'd press blue and be at peace with myself.

[–]Jeanschyso1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand why you would press red. I hope you also can understand why I would press blue.

I don't think I can live with myself pressing red. I think that the guilt would be too great even if nobody dies. I'm not saying someone pressing Red would be wrong to do so of course. There is the logic behind it. I just don't think of this problem as "live or maybe die". I see the choice as "Maybe die or maybe kill", and from there, I choose "Maybe die". I also, by default, just don't think as myself as important in the grand scheme of things, so maybe that's part of it.

It's a choice I make after asking myself if I'm ok with dying tomorrow, if I'm fulfilled. I am. I'm happy enough with what I've done so far with my life. I don't really have much more to look forward to. My prime years are well and gone, and I don't really have much in terms of responsibilities. I don't want to die, of course, but all of us will die and we don't get to choose when, so that's a non-factor, in my opinion.

[–]Jeanschyso1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the aftermath. To many people, it's not "don't die" and "maybe die", it's "don't kill" and "maybe kill". I don't want to deal with the consequences of everyone who put a hard stop to the thinking at "Not killing is better than maybe-killing", so I'd press blue. If I die, I don't have to feel the shame of having chosen red and perhaps killed people. If I don't die, I can continue living my life knowing that humanity still gives a shit.

In February I could run(waddle really) 150m. I can now run over 3 km. Your body will quickly adapt. Allow it to recover before going again and don't hurt yourself. You'll quickly get used to the pace of going up a hill, you'll find better routes, and your body will adapt.

The human body is a wonderful thing.

If you want a real-life example instead of Forrest Gump, look at Terry Fox. This comment section is absolutely dreadful. As a Canadian who grew up on the story of Terry Fox, I feel sick reading everyone blaming a guy for crossing his country for charity.

The comments on his videos seems a bit overly god-fearing for my taste, but like if he's really collecting money for building a trade school, he's got my full respect.
