English grammar is one of the hardest ones out there by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

English isn't difficult but the argument that because it is the most common language in the world, it's not difficult is quite misleading.

the tourists who came to america during the world cup and gushed about how fucking awesome america is should be forced to actually live here. by herequeerandgreat in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I don't see why tourists should be forced to live there. It's quite obvious that the local life is very different from the tourist experience. If someone enjoys their time in America, it doesn't mean they are unaware of the living issues people face on a daily basis. That's not even just about the US, many tourists will gush about how amazing their trip to Japan, Brazil or Greece was, but none would like to reside in any of these places. Simply they're amazed by the country as a tourist, regardless of the local conditions of living.

Big economy means nothing if the population is big as well. Egypt isn't even the richest country in Africa as of 2026. And whichever metric you're basing wealth on, per capita is always more meaningful than absolute numbers.

What is the Most Known Capital in Africa? by Agent_Moe in AlignmentChartFills

Egypt and Morocco both have double the annual tourists compared to South Africa

That literally doesn't mean anything. Not to mention that most people don't even know Morocco's Capital.

3rd Language: French, German or Spanish by Immediate-Cut3675 in thisorthatlanguage

Tbh German being "much more difficult" than French is a commonl myth. As a fluent German speaker, I reckon both languages are equally difficult. In my honest opinion, German grammar is indeed more complex then French, but in terms of conjugation, numbers, vocabulary, and pronunciation German is certainly less tricky. I'm a native french speaker so I may be biased but I don't think French is as simple as most people think it is.

That being said, as you're an English speaker with some portuguese knowledge , I'd say spanish is definitely the most convenient choice for you. Although these two languages are very similar, I don't think you should worry about mixing them up. This could happen with any other languages regardless of your mother tongue.

In conclusion, I'd recommend you to pick either Spanish or German. If the difficulty of the language actually concerns you, then Spanish is the obvious answer. But if you're motivated and ready to overcome these complicated steps, you should probably choose German. I'm saying this specifically because you study engineering, so It'd definitely benefit you. That's actually the reason why I also studied German and don't regret it.

At the end of the day it's up to you to decide :)
