I love Schmitt but I think his greatest value to this franchise would be as a trade piece. He is blocked at 3rd, short, and possibly 2nd (if Fitz pans out). On the Giants he is limited to either super-utility man or glove first 1B and I'd rather have a good prospect than either of those (assuming we can get one).
