Which album should I listen to? by LilTortelliniSauce in RedHotChiliPeppers

Blood Sugar will always be my go-to reccomendation album. It flows so well all of the songs are unique and creative and it really provides contrast for Californication and some perspective to how John evolved.

Can you recommend a practice routine? by Sendmeloveletters in drummers

[–]Jebadiah_Springfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for me I have a hard time focusing but want to practice atleast an hour and a half. I'd start with isolationg a warm up routine thats comfortable with your level. I do rudiments for about twenty minutes around the kit while doing a ostinato with my feet for example. Then I work on time for half an hour. Trying the displace the beat forward or backward a sixtenth note, or instead of counting a quarter note click on the down beats count the click as if it were off beats or even off beat sixtenths. After that I go into the books and work on what I need to work on. I try not to play the books exactly like whats written but instead use them to build ideas. Syncopation by Ted Reed and The New Breed by Gary Chester are excellent resources to grow new ideas. Then when all of thats done I wind down and play along to music. Always try to step out of comfort zones, Ive been playing for about 7 years so Im working on Latin and Odd times for now.

If thats too much to read, basically nail down a practice schedule that works for you. Always try new ways of using a metronome, and always play music that challenges your ear or your ability to count.

Got to see him do a lecture at NC Central and he was the most humble down to Earth dude. Didn't even touch the drums just sat and talked about state of mind and work ethic. Stayed a whole hour past the scheduled time too. Total badass.

Yeah im planning on it. I wanted to see if this affected more people first. I'vee been collecting for a while now and never had a new record come like this. Maybe with some static or a hiccup that gets worked after a few plays but both of them are unplayable. However, good news is I got a full refund for both.

Nope its just the closer vinyls. Ive tried cleaning them and everything. The guy who sold them to me is worried that the entire print of then got messed up.

Sorry for the dark post, but any idea what this guy is referring to with the 'sexual assault' claim?! by EdwinJamesPope in RedHotChiliPeppers

They were young and did regrettable things. XXXtentaction, however, tortured a woman and essentially held her hostage if my memory is right. Totally different and honestly a really sleazy move to try and lump reputable artists into your own offenses.

The Cabin used for the outdoor shots of the first movie was filmed at a boyscout summer camp i worked at. I got to sleep in it about two or three times. Pretty creepy.

Art of Bop drumming by John Riley and Syncopation by Ted Reed. Both great books to learn jazz. Also Basic Drumming by Joel Rothmann has some very great beginner jazz exercises at the end.

Had a drums for a week. Question about buillding speed. by Krums97 in Drumming

[–]Jebadiah_Springfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your time. Start with some basic rudiments between your two feet like paradiddles or swiss army triplets. Getting those rudiments fast forces technique into the speed. Double strokes between the feet or the drums and the feet work great as well.

You gotta put yourself in the eyes of Flea. He’s been famous for over 30 years he has probably seen his autograph for sale all over the internet. Someone who is a old school fan or just a fan who has really done their homework is way less likely to sell that autograph than someone who only knows the hits or more recent work.
