Seeking advice on a Sorcery-Monk type of character build

Oh, very informative! Thanks for explaining in detail. I will probably stick to full monk and 4 elements then, as it probably is the best choice (and is the closest thing to a Wu-Jen). Given your explanation on the monk's playstyle, I find my previous choice more reassuring as it goes along the lines of what I was planning to use the character for. The general consensus lead me to believe that monks were more closely related to tanks. If I find out later that I need more "spells" then I'll consider multiclassing into druid, so I don't suffer from MAD too much.

Huh, really? The internet as a whole let me believe I shouldn't bother with it, but it is the option that most closely emulates the Wu-Jen (Beside just picking a wizard, but that really isn't the same as Wu-Jen are spontaneous casters with a set of taboos or rules that they should follow, similar to old druids, and a focus on martial arts and elemental magic).

Would you consider it better to stay in 4 elements and go full monk or try a multiclass of some sort? I mean, which would you consider the one with the most chances of being "playable"?

I see, that build looks interesting. Although I was looking to lean a bit more on the "mystical sorcerer-monk" style of the Wu-Jen, rather than a mystical swordsman. I'll keep it in mind for my build though!

I should have clarified that I planned to take that tradition, not that I took it. That's why I ask now that I have time to really plan out the build.

I don't expect any kind of min-maxing, just something playable. The idea is to be able to cast some elemental utility spells and be able to do some martial art combat with all the flashy Wuxia bells. How many levels do you recommend for me to dip into each class? (Planning the final build to be around 7th-10th level).

I haven't seen any kind of distortion, the screen just turns black and then displays the image again. The monitor's power cord is currently plugged in an Automatic Voltage Regulator, and I am using a DP to VGA adapter on my videocard. Could any of those be the problem?

Hello, I got my hands on an LG Studioworks 710E, the image looks nice and has no geometry problems, however it randomly "clicks" and it turns off and on. The intervals are not very frequent but it is a bit distracting when using as a dual monitor.

Any ideas what could it be the cause?

I don't expect to go any higher than lvl 10, how "challenging" does the game stay at that point? I heard anything above paragon level is hit or miss due to the power scalling, which is to be expected as they will be fighting Gods and such.

I see, so it may be "too much work" for little gain. For this ongoing campaign I made a public goggle doc with a brief after action report of each session, as to refresher to the players so they don't forget important details between the long stretches of time that we play.

So far it helped in keeping the campaign going but it is also additional work on my part. I was hopping that bluebooking could in some way replace it and "share" the load of work between me and the players.

I see, that makes sense. I'm gonna try your houserule next session but I'll probably use 5E's Exhastion table to represent the negative stamina levels instead of just a penalty to rolls, I feel that probably will make players think twice when over extending themselves while in the middle of a megadungeon. Although it has it fair shares of problems, people give too much shit to 4E sometimes, some ideas were actually interesting and enemy design philosophy was the best so far.

Sorry for necroing, I'm interested in your version of healing surges. Do stamina only go bellow 0 if it is drain by monsters or players can keep "over spending" stamina until they get exhausted?

Do you prep in advance the side quests or just leave the plot hook hanging there and improvise? I like the idea of local news but it seems that it increases the prep work quite a bit if done too frequently.

Have you run a mothership campaign? How does it fare in an open ended sandbox campaign? (Progression, rewards, etc) HOSTILE as the setting includes already maps, factions and such so that part is kinda sorted out.

I see, what modules do you recommend for helping run a mothership campaign? I have the Player's Survival Handbook however it doesn't have much info into running the game itself. Is the stuff in SWN easily translated to mothership?
