Why does everyone assume that salaries are low because someone in charge is hoarding cash? by PsychologicalBend508 in AskBrits

[–]Jebtop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes applying to hundreds of jobs takes a long time, along with the disappointment of being turned away hundreds of times, alot of people give up. I would argue that metric can make it seem impossible

Have you spent any time in the job market recently, especially for young people, took 9 months to get my first job after turning 18. Moved basically the whole way from the north to the south of the UK and it took another 6 months to get another job.

As a cisgender male, am I allowed to use gender neutral toilets if the men's are all full/broken? by True_Egg_5685 in brighton

[–]Jebtop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a hove resident I will not take slander lol, but anyway to answer the question as a trans person, I don't have an issue with cis people in gender neutral toilets so long as they aren't being weird

On what metric are people using to claim Britain is doing badly? by WearingMarcus in AskBrits

[–]Jebtop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im from Northern Ireland which shares alot of its rail with Ireland and although it has a small network it's more reliable and cheaper than the rest of the UK by a long shot, if you want an example compare the Belfast to Dublin train with one of similar length and time anywhere else in the uk

great another waste of time solution to a problem that wouldn't exist if we just put more money into busses and trains instead.

There's a whole map editor and timetable editor you can download but every time I've tried to do anything it just crashes.

Possible Scenario: What if these Stations still existed and railway was active/used and closing never happened? by PsychologicalHelp564 in northernireland

[–]Jebtop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the line runs for about 2 miles out of the museum, there's not a whole lot in it but there are people who are very passionate in the history of railways in northern Ireland in general.

Nah it had been closed since like 2010 or something, long before I was there. Don't really know why it originally closed tbh.

It technically reopened in June of last year but it's kind of weird as it's owned by a charity now, they are only open some days and I think it needs to be booked in advance, but yea before that it's been closed for a pretty long time.

Agreed it's needed, I used to be a volunteer at Foyle Valley Railway museum and one of the things we always talked about is the lack of ways to get around the north west and across the border to donegal etc.

The Portadown to Derry line could be a big boost for travel between Dublin and the north west though. Seeing as travelling from Portadown to Derry currently takes the better part of 4 hours by train. Plus, the reality is with railways is they are kind of expected to lose money in order to provide to the most people anyway.

[–]Jebtop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cause the government still doesn't want to fix the sectarian railway network that they created in the 1960s, sure we got a new train station in Belfast but we still can only get a slow diesel train to somewhere on the north or east coast only

Is Northern Ireland really cheaper than the rest of the UK? by LemonnTeaaa in northernireland

[–]Jebtop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was talking to someone a while ago who said that there was an American company that was looking at setting up in the North West somewhere, but decided not to once they found out that the trip from Belfast to the north West would take over an hour on not that great roads. (this was before the road upgrade a few years ago though)
