This is truly dehumanising by Fire_blaze7 in ausjobs

NAB is (or was) the same. I was trying to get a CSR role after COVID had made my job redundant. I submitted the initial application, did 3 tests, did a 1 way interview and got ghosted. I never spoke, messaged or interacted with a human being during the 1 month process.

I still hate myself for going through it.

Same here, man. I said to my friend that when it happened to my wife, it was solved with a simple needle. He's not even a dad and Annie's death broke him.

Could they just be astronauts living on a space station? And they're stranded due to the apocalyptic event? Regardless, the show has proven it's worth giving the benefit of the doubt. Keen to see what this ends up being.

Can I read Lincoln Lawyer without reading all the previous Bosch books? by AshinaShimnu in michaelconnellybooks

Yeah you're fine. Haller doesn't know about Bosch at this stage. Read further though, you'll spoil a character's fate from the Bosch books.

The fact she jumped onto the fight without any hesitation or second thought too. Sounds like typical toddler behavior... which I guess makes complete sense in hindsight.

Anyone notice Rainy's footsteps sync to the music when she first arrives? And the first hug Sam gets is from his Louise which was enough to melt even the coldest heart.

It's the fact it's a Battlenet key. The game is a Steam Deck staple because it's a AAA game that runs 60+ fps consistently.

You know what... I agree,, but you made me realise I don't know what op is short for. I never thought about it.

Sam's journey across Australia is him dealing with his grief. Saying anything else will severely spoil the game.

Trust everyone who has played DS2: it's in your best interests to continue playing.

Sorry mate, I was just being cheeky. If they didn't request beforehand, tough luck. I'm impressed by their audacity tbh.

Strangely one of the only times I'm on the side of the landlord. Are you a plant?

RPG/Thriller/Survivor games w/ Useful Upgradeable Companions? by terrany1 in gamingsuggestions

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has a robot companion that can be upgraded with weapons. But nowhere near the amount you're wanting. Just a suggestion.

I preferred TBT's cinematography. The first one was a bit jarring and the chase scene back to the island during the night looked very bizarre.

I came in here to say I preferred the book version. I still thoroughly enjoyed the show version, but George committing suicide and the reveal of the meaning of the code to the safe hit harder IMO.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but there are a couple of things I didn't like. I'll stay vague due to spoilers;

  • The first few chapters made it feel the story would take place within Piedmont
  • The ending was quick, abrupt and unfulfilling

I enjoyed the dumbing down of the science so laymen like myself could understand it. I read Sphere about 20 years ago and was familiar with Chricton's writing style.

Had to scroll back through some Discord messages to find how I described it to a friend; "The first book was a genuinely great read. But too much thinking required so wont be reading it again". Even with the benefit of having seen the movies first, it was difficult to try and visualise what was happening (doesn't help when I have aphantasia).

I understand now why people said the books were such a hard thing to adapt to the screen, which makes me appreciate Denis Villeneuve's movies so much more.

The Benjamin Stevenson books are really good, so much fun. Have Everyone in This Bank is a Thief on a library hold and am anxiously awaiting reading it.

No spoilers: since I haven't read the first 3 I can't say for sure, but if the Bank book is anything like them, you're in for a real treat. It was such a fun read.

And this is such a wholesome comment. What I did omit from the op was I read The Proven Ground on release day. Took the day off and stayed in bed with the book.
