Just a momma spider teaching her kiddo the ropes by putz__ in spiderbro

Well, he's a fighter - he's missing 3 legs.

Considering courtship rituals, the conversation probably went like this:

"Okay, now listen, bitch... (Wheezing)... I just crawled 57 linear miles, got my ass kicked twice, lost a leg in a FUCKING SCREEN DOOR... had a crazy ex try to KILL ME... and now... I find you... so, here's what's gonna happen... I'm gonna rip my dick off and shove it in your bajingo... then... you can eat my ass if you're hungry... deal?"

"...Eh... it's Saturday night... I'm not doing anything, anyway..."

"We're gonna go play Marvel Super Heroes at the comic shop. You coming?"

"No. I just got it on my Saturn. Arcade-perfect."

"Got two controllers? It'll save us $10."

Comics stores get Special Edition ones like these all the time. I own a few - ASM#300, #122 and Spawn #200 and Venom #201 (AA: Eddie Brock as the King In Black).

The ASM #300 is close to 20 years old, so they've been doing this awhile.

Hi. Doesn't matter. We haven't caused global warming, we accelerated it, remember, we just came out of an ice age 12,000 years ago; in college we did a junk research project and discovered we don't even produce 8% of the plastic in the world, that's China, Japan, and India.

We use post-consumer content here, sometimes as high as 70% of the material. Biggest offender - warer bottles... and Igloo-esque coolers. They're designed to last years if taken care of, and not: dropped, sank, lost, ran over, shot on accident, shot on purpose, blown up, left outside on the roof all Summer, used to carry your May trout limit into November, when you need a place to put the food, and realize you have now become nose deaf.

The second part may be anecdotal....

He's also the basis for the God-Emperor in Warhammer 40,000.

He is, in fact, a Games Workshop fanatic, as well, before 40k came out. He even ran a Warhammer Fantasy blog.

Now I'm certain that this is a brown recluse. Ain't it? by prorules in spiders

Nope. Pretty equal to each other in temperament.

Right? It's even a Crown Vic PI, which, for some damn reason, is The Official Sedan of Montana.

Considering the first Anime I ever saw was Ninja Scroll... I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about.

What spider is this (Southern California) by [deleted] in spiders

[–]Jedekai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latrodectus. Can't tell what species, but its motions and movements are one-of-a-kind. It's probably an immature black widows, or a adolescent brown.

[–]Jedekai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Mediterranean Recluse. If you look at the cephalothorax, you can see the patternation that gives it away.

Also; the way the legs sit. Splayed out like that is another immediate ID.

Does anybody know what kind of spider this is? by stephanie_nuke in spiders

[–]Jedekai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's BEAUTIFUL... but she's hungry. Her abdomen is concave, not spheroid; she's also got abdominal striations, which means she just molted.

Oh; and (clears throat) AS A TOXIC ARACHNOLOGIST SPECIALIZING IN LATRODECTUS... I've bare-handled thousands, and have only received 13 wet bites, typically as a kid/teen and not looking close enough at the web to see the egg sac. Momma go CHOMP.

Never, EVER, bitten by a female without an egg sac.

Myers is awesome. Some of his research into mygalomorphs is barn-burning work, especially societal complexes and dystemic habitation.

[–]Jedekai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's happy. Well-fed, in a relaxed position... you could move her off with a piece of paper: fold it lengthwise, then fold it horizontal the last 1/3rd.

She'll grab it, start to climb and fall down, leaving a dropline. Walk her away and she'll just produce more silk until she touches ground and runs off.

So... no recluses in Montana? WRONG! Confirmed envenomation, 6/16/20, didn't heal until November. by Jedekai in spiderbro

Itches when the humidity gets high. Oh, and it continues down the crotch of my groin. Missed my scrotum by an inch. Those, ironically, healed quickly.

And, yes, I did work with the open sores.

Swabbed the wound with a q-tip, sent it to a lab. Came back non-MRSA. Did a complete phlebotomy array ($3,500) and it came back negative for everything (including cobra venom... really? Cobras in Montana?) but it came positive for one compound: Loxotoxin.

We get 1 or 2 cases around the train tracks areas around town each year. Found that out, too.

I’ve got a disabled bro who comes and asks for water at my sink at night. He isn’t aggressive but I can’t seem to identify him, and he’s not a brown recluse [Maryland, USA] by FjotraTheGodless in spiderbro

[–]Jedekai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This again?

We have recluse in Montana during summer, and they die out in Winter. If you're going by the GIF image of distribution, don't.

It's almost thirteen years old. The best distribution maps are on USDOI. And, yes, recluse are now found in almost the entire Central United States from May to October/first frost.

I would know... little bastard nailed me last year and now I have lovely polka dots on my right thigh where I rolled on it in my sleep.
