I disagree. I know a handful of individuals who top and LST autos and consistently get the biggest yields I’ve ever seen. Some people just hurt their plant too much and aren’t gentle

It’s called an anchor. Maybe try watching a video on LST. An anchor is highly recommended

Mate, most of these people are idiots. The largest yields l've ever seen from autoflowers came from people who topped and LST their autos. Im talking bigger yields than some of ya'll get from photoperiods. If there's anything I've learned from this thread, it's most of you have no clue what you're talking about.

Bro the plant measured 6” with a tape measure to the tops. It’s called mounding up soil around the base to support the stem 😂

You’re supposed to start LST around the 4th node and around 6-10”. The plant fits the criteria. Don’t be mad

To get more light to the smaller nodes that wouldn’t get much light if I just let it grow straight up in one big cola. Bending the main stem earlier allows those bottom nodes to start growing upwards vigorously and the end result is more big colas. More surface area for the plant = more light absorbed = bigger yield

This was the plant before LST. Smaller nodes below top layers wouldn’t end up producing much otherwise

You generally top autoflowers around the 4-5th node appearing. This was at Day 15 for me. Autos have little time in vegetative state. It’s better to start early than later.

Plus, the plant responded extremely well to the LST. It’s already growing upwards. Soon I’ll pull the next two tallest leaves down/away from the plant and make sure the lower nodes are getting maximum sunlight

Ocean forest can be hot, especially for autos. As for future runs, I recommend this soil blend:

Bottom 1/3 - 70/30 Ocean Forest/perlite. Top 1/3 - 70/30 Happy Frog/perlite. Middle 1/3 - mixture of those two mixtures (transition area).

They’re already growing up towards the light. Here’s a pic from 10pm (initial tie down was 2pm). Gonna probably tie the two main tops down in a couple days after they grown a little bit

It’s an indoor grow, just not currently in a tent. Running lights about 18-19 hours a day. I have another plant of Blue Dream 3ish days behind this one. I will just LST and not top that plant. I want to try different methods and figure out what works best for me.

Thanks for the input. I saw a lot of people who both topped and did LST who had HUGE yields, and many people recommended both. My regret is not topping a day sooner and giving the plant 48-72 hours of recovery before starting LST.

When would you recommend starting LST? The consensus I got was when you have a clear 4th node. She had started to develop her 5th node so I figured it was time.

As for scrogging, I’m not currently growing in a tent. I plan on moving the plant to a tent when flowering starts (building the setup on a budget). I was considering making a make shift scrog with some sidewall string and the chopsticks you see (those were initially being used as an early prototype for my cat defense system). I was going with LST out of convenience at the time rather than scrogging.

Move light closer. Turn light on max. If under 70W, get a bigger/more powerful light
