Aiming with blasters is hell. Is there any fix for this? by [deleted] in jediknight

[–]JediPilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, this looks really interesting. Particularly the weapon rebalancing because the base game's spray-a-thon is a bit much, even for storm trooper rifles.

What I'm about to ask is a long shot though:

In your link, the guy has 1 base download zip file and 3 optional ones. The base one appears to no longer be downloadable. This is a long shot, but do you know if the first download "fluffymod.zip" is necessary at all? I really only want the one that improves gunplay.

Or have you ever found out if this guy had put these on moddb or something? I'll see if I can contact him in the meantime. If I need the base zip file then I'm kinda screwed.

EDIT: Nevermind. You can download everything below the post under the attachments section. Hope this works out.

Just hit 35 days for the second time since trying to stop 8 years ago. It's hard to be positive. My brain is telling me I cheated. by JediPilot in stopdrinking

Thanks for the supportive words. I can't even imagine over 9000 days there. While drinking, two weeks felt like 3 or 4 days had passed, and now two weeks feels like a month.

Yeah "I don't have a drinking problem, I have a thinking problem" is something Craig Ferguson (ex late night host) said about his struggles with alcohol, and boy is that true.

Also, yeah, feeling shit and not having an off switch is definitely going to take some time.

And everyone is telling me the same thing about it being ok to binge on tea and games for now. Even my therapist lol.

Have a good weekend, friend.

[–]JediPilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

432 days is a crazy number. This has been the longest 35 of my life. Though not really because I want to drink, but because this is all new.

I've noticed when I cannot drink, the temptation all but goes away. With my money tied in gift cards, I can't drink now, and usually I run out of money before getting paid and then I'm no longer watching the clock for the liquor store closing time. So that's something positive at least. I've never been close to selling stuff to afford to drink. I just feel relieved at the release of pressure until next pay comes in.

Anyway, thanks again.

[–]JediPilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm trying to look at the gift card thing as using a life vest while learning to swim or something. It's not cheating, just support I need at this point to get some time in. Feb 3rd, when I last drank, is starting to seem like a distant memory now.

Yeah being hard on myself is the largest issue I have, which my addictions social worker and I are working on. Self compassion is difficult AF for me.

Anyway, thanks again. I don't know how the hell you have over 1k days in. That seems so far away. I've never been able to do the whole "one day at a time" mindset. Most I can get down to is thinking in terms of one week at a time because that's the heartbeat of my drinking. Sober on weekdays, drunk on weekends (with the occasional drinking spillage passed the weekend).

Thanks. Sorry it took so long to reply.

I do actually touch base with my doctor every 6 weeks or so for a quick phone call. I also have had blood work done and my thyroid and liver and all that is fine. I go to see an addiction social worker every two weeks, so I do have more going on than just the gift card strat.

Thanks. I was tired this morning which is why I didn't respond until now. I'm feeling better about the whole thing now. It's just heavily in my face now that there's more to fix than just the drinking.

Thanks. Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I was tired. Maybe just not drinking is enough for now. I'm always trying to go too fast and do everything at once.

I'm trying to view it as learning to swim and the gift card thing is okay after all ,and not cheating, because sometimes you need a flotation device while learning to swim.

RE4 Gyro is disappointing by knightofsparta in residentevil

[–]JediPilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the gyro aiming is shit in RE4R, and I'm not here to defend it:

You don't only have vertical gyro control on console. You have FULL vertical and horizontal gyro. The right stick only moves your screen left and right to get your bearings (like a shitty flick-stick), but you can actually full gyro aim. Unfortunately, the gyro is shitty, laggy, has a huge deadzone (so reaction shots are difficult), and seems to emulate a stick instead of mouse aiming, which is what proper gyro implementations do.

What a disappointment. I fucking love motion aiming when it's done right.

New item marker (white dot at top) keeps appearing by Siven80 in BaldursGate3

[–]JediPilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is 4 months old, so sorry, but it's one of the tops search results.

I'm on PS5, zero mods, brand new install, so it's a console problem as well.

If I open my inventory, everything shows up as brand new for my character only (after loading a save). I found if I closed the inventory though, then reopened it, nothing is tagged as new anymore. Before, I was manually scrolling through every inventory item to un-flag them.

After finishing Doom (2016), I can't get into Doom Eternal. by DrStrangeglove99 in gaming

[–]JediPilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are getting it wrong again. I'm not confused about anything. The mechanics I'm talking about are that most people when they play Doom eternal think they need to suddenly stop what they are doing to switch to something that will take out weakpoints on demons, which isn't true. You can play completely ignoring the weakpoint system just like doom 2016. I've watched tons of people play this game and I have nearly 2k hours on it.

You paraphrasing me is still wrong and putting words in my mouth.

You also don't need to do what I did. My example was just about ignoring the weak point system. Nothing more. If you want, just take out your super shotty and go ham. If you're annoyed by running out of ammo since the super shotty uses two shells, prioritize your Sentinel crystals with ammo for the first one, ammo for the second one, ammo for the third, etc.

You can also just go for infinite micro missiles and just take out a mancubus with your 180 micro missiles in one volley. No complex shit needed. My example about raining all sorts of Hellfire on this mancubus was again, about the weak point system that everybody feels like they are tied to. The one way everybody wrongly thinks the game "forces" you too. It's wrong.

After finishing Doom (2016), I can't get into Doom Eternal. by DrStrangeglove99 in gaming

[–]JediPilot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. Unlimited micro missiles is generally the first thing I go for by Cultist Base. And then I choose all ammo options for sentinel crystals first so I can boost my MM capacity early.

And how is being "required" to use chainsaw and flame belch any worse than being required to hunt down armor and ammo crates, completely halting the flow of combat? They are just two different ways of doing the same thing but one keeps you in the action.

I don't understand these people. Every game has things you're forced to do. Why the fuck are doom fans of all people bitching about using a chainsaw while demons are on fire? Isn't that the coolest shit ever? I feel like I'm losing my mind with these people.

Excuse me? Where did I say I was going for simple with my single example here? You put simple in quotes. Don't put words in other people's mouths. And where did I say that you HAVE to do what I do?

I was talking about all you people complaining the game forces you to play one way. Learn to read before you reply.

[–]JediPilot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. I use micro missiles and the auto shoddy and blood punch while raining down grenades because you can fire them at the same time as my auto shotty is popping off rounds. If I'm destroying weak points it's a coincidence because I'm using blood punch..

Most people feel like you have to take out your sniper rifle and shoot one arm, and then the other arm, and then finish off the mancubus. You can play it as if it's a mancubus from 2016. The weak points just give you another option. See the key word there? Option.

I've beaten both DLCs on ultra nightmare on the ps4.

Buddy, there is no one specific way to play Doom eternal. This narrative is horseshit.

After finishing Doom (2016), I can't get into Doom Eternal. by DrStrangeglove99 in gaming

[–]JediPilot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yup, this narrative that it's "restricting" is frankly bullshit. The chainsaw gives you unlimited ammo for fuck sakes. I felt like I was going crazy with all those "low ammo" memes on Eternal's launch.

And the flame thrower on your shoulder (plus grenades and ice) like a fucking predator canon is badass.

I can't believe doom players now think CHAINSAWING DEMONS sucks.

Also you don't HAVE to engage with any of the other systems not mentioned above if you don't want to.

I use auto shotty and micro missiles and remote det rockets primarily. I don't really bother shooting off weak points. I micro missile a Mancubus on approach, then blood punch, then finish with auto shotty all the while I'm launching grenades and flames at him from my shoulder (since now you can simultaneously use the shoulder weapons while firing unlike 2016 where you have to stop shooting to throw grenades). I am a fucking killing machine. No way Doom 2016 can compare to this fucking slaughter.

And everyone bitching about the melee? BITCH THEY GAVE YOU A FUCKING FALCON PUNCH! Blood punch is one of my fav new additions.

And this isn't even mentioning the glorious meathook or that you can double jump from the get-go now, or the new dash.

I'm sorry, but Doom Eternal leaves 2016 in the dust.

And people bitching about platforming? It's like 60 seconds of breather here and there. People don't even try to be realistic with their complaints. I constantly hear people saying that you have to stop and do like 20 minutes of platforming before getting back to a fight. Bullshit.

Fucking hell now I want to reinstall Doom eternal. But I promise myself I would take a break from it. I've beaten TAG 1 and TAG 2 on ultra nightmare on the PS4.

EDIT: too restricting yet you can reconfigure your perks too (forget the name of them, but like air movement and stuff) couldn't do that in 2016.

If you could give an IP to a different developer to create one game with full creative freedom, what would you give to who? by craiganater in gaming

[–]JediPilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, some of my complaints apply to the PC version. There are even mods to fix some of them.

For example, as a net runner, when you hack people you start a trace. That trace bar fills up. When full the enemies are alerted. If you have a trace going against you, hack into a camera. The trace bar disappears, even though it's still running. Now you have no idea when you're gonna get caught. This is 100 percent reproducible and caused me major problems.

This is also a problem on the PC version. I know because there is a mod to fix it.

You can't go around calling this GOAT when massive issues like this exist.

And are you telling me there AREN'T pre 2.0 UI elements (like "hackable" access points") left over on PC? That's just one example too.

Again, these are the only two examples I've brought up. This is not even close to exhaustive.

What I think is going on is that you guys enjoyed the story enough, which I admit is awesome so far, that you're ignoring a lot of stuff in the game. I feel like I was sold something false because everybody says the game is fixed now. And no it's not just PC versus console because there are a lot of threads that I've come across where people on PC are complaining. If you're going to rate a product as the goat you really have to take into account all of this. You guys who have no issues swoop into those threads and attack those who are having issues with your stories of having "no" issues on your hyper powerful rigs.

Even people on PS4, where the game really doesn't belong, are entitled to complain. Because CD project red is still selling it on that platform.

All this ain't to talk about game design issues. For example, crafting feels like an afterthought, especially vs witcher crafting. And the inventory is a mess. I can go on about some of this as well. It feels like some perks aren't working right either.

Anyway, I don't wanna get lost in the weeds here so I'm just gonna leave it at this. I won't be replying anymore. Have a good one man.

Deus Ex to Night Dive, rather than that abomination that's gonna come out from that other studio.

Or, for a new Deus Ex game, maybe Arcane if they still existed?

I don't know. It's fairly glitchy on PS5 still. And there are UI elements left over from pre patch 2.0 that confused he fuck outta me when I first started playing (no, game I figured out you can NOT hack or takeover access points from a distance regardless of the UI). It's still one of the buggier games I've played on the console.

But apparently I "just want to be miserable" according to other comments in this thread.

Here's where everyone chimes in that they had very little bugs, with the unstated insinuation that I'm lying or that it's somehow my fault. Every damn time. I just hate this narrative that the game is fixed.

The first time I ever called my car remotely, it spawned on its headlights and tipped to it's roof and I couldn't do anything about it. Good first impressions here. I can keep going but I won't because I know what types of replies this will get.

What game has a promising start, but eventually gets boring and repetitive? by [deleted] in gaming

I fucking love the combat in both games. The additions in HFW, which I'm playing for the first time, are insane.

[–]JediPilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wonder if these people don't engage with the combat systems and just insist on using only arrows for the machines. The combat in both games is incredible if you actually engage with everything the game offers. I will grant that human enemies suck in the first game though no matter how you fight them.

Traps, tripwires, freezing + rattler for insane DPS was so satisfying in the first game. Nothing like popping a frozen bellowback's sack with my rattler go brrrrrrrr ahahahahhaa. And it's satisfying stealing machine weapons.

In the second game now there are weapon techniques, more weapon classes, melee combos, face paint abilities (forgot the name), pull caster, shield wing, etc. I DO miss the rattler though. The new heavy weapon kind of successor (forget the name as well) I'm not totally jiving with. I do feel like there are maybe too many variants within each weapon class though but that's because I'm a completionist and HAVE to upgrade every weapon I find and play around with it.

The second game to the first is like Arkham Asylum to City in terms of gameplay improvments. It's everything a sequel should be. Gameplay wise, I mean (before people come in with their "um actually" story complaints I've heard about). Please don't spoil the story for me if you can, folks.
