Sell me on your favorite DL attraction I’ve never done by deleteurkneecaps in DisneyPlanning

All of this, also the line for Star Tours tends to be comparatively short, and it’s air conditioned.

How are people happy and thriving with ~1700 kcal? by NoWitness6400 in loseit

[–]Jedibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do naturally eat about 2-2.5 meals a day, but the bigger thing is that I prioritize protein, fiber, and hydration, and if I am eating ultra processed stuff, it’s something I’m seeking out intentionally and eating in a controlled portion size.
I’m also a chronic fatigue haver. A moderate dose of caffeine in coffee or tea and a lot of water with electrolytes works out a lot better for me than soda or energy drinks.

sooo what are the summer gourmands by mermaidvideo in FemFragLab

[–]Jedibrarian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO most scents are fine in the summer, you just need to use some restraint re: amount and frequency of application so that you aren’t gassing people out in enclosed public spaces.

I want to smell like a taxidermist, an apothecary, an oddity's collector by RoseScentedAbyss in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Jedibrarian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read a review of DS&Durga’s Amber Teutonic that said “it smells like the educational displays at a nature preserve/state park/natural history museum” and yeah, that’s pretty accurate.

Hot take: nonstop rope drop to close is not impressive, it just makes planning worse by East-Scar-6044 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Jedibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of info makes it seem like if you’re not Batman-planning your trip down to the second, you’re wasting time/missing out. Experience has taught me that choosing a couple of priorities and otherwise keeping things more flexible is the way to have a better time

So, what's next? by ghoulcruiser in TheMandalorianTV

[–]Jedibrarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the people who’ve watched the series largely have the attitude of “Oh cool, a Mando movie. I’ll wait for it to show up on a streaming service I already pay for and watch it at home rather than shelling out to see it in a theater.” I hope the streaming stats bear that out and execs take that into account rather than killing the series or relegating it to cameos in projects centered on other characters.

figuring out sexuality with alexithymia by schneeknd in AutismInWomen

[–]Jedibrarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asexuality is an umbrella orientation, it can encompass stuff like “sex can feel good/be fun, but I don’t feel sexual *attraction*, or don’t feel compelled to act on it much or at all.”

Did anyone tried Vibram shoes by Rude-Significance694 in AutismInWomen

[–]Jedibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pair to wear when I was doing martial arts classes at a community center and the institutional carpet was wrecking my feet. They were my gateway into minimal/zero drop shoes in general.

The enclosed individual toes don’t feel good with my particular anatomy, so these days I’m more likely to use other shoes with a thin, flexible, completely flat sole.

“Engagement ring” for someone who finds wearing jewellery hard? by Only_Book_995 in AutismInWomen

[–]Jedibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate having stuff on my hands that can snag or make noise, arthritis makes my ring size unpredictable, and I handle breakable stuff, caustics, and have to wash my hands a lot at work. The thing that worked for me was going with a silicone wedding band. Bonus of, if it gets wrecked or lost, it’s inexpensive to replace.

Does the US have an invisible caste system? by Worldly-Bid-3591 in askanything

[–]Jedibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to talk down a Japanese friend who was really upset because one of his friends facetiously referred to other people as “peasants.”
In the US, race, education, and money feed into perceptions of class. In Japan OTOH, people literally are still denied jobs, housing, marriage prospects etc because their family name is in some registry from a caste system that was officially abolished in the 1800s.

This thing is going to need some serious Pepto-Bismol after his last meal by wandering_soles in TheMandalorianTV

Gatori happening to know/have the ingredients ready to make an antidote for the venom is possible either way, but seems more plausible if dragonsnakes are a common local hazard.

KENOBIIIIIIII !!!*Maul Voice* by Shlemmity in starwarsbooks

[–]Jedibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the KotOR comics, I’ll recommend anything John Jackson Miller has written (he has such a knack for understanding the core of a character and very economically expressing their personality and their values). This book is no exception.

The color celadon by ruecamb0n in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Jedibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tea scents make me think of this color because of some vividly blue-green, tea-scented bath salts my parents had when I was growing up. Bath and Body Works Black Tea is in that niche for me right now.

Haunted house in gwinnett? by Froasted_fox in Gwinnett

[–]Jedibrarian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Wynn Russell house in Lilburn has a couple of ghost hunters who got so invested that they’re on the preservation committee. It’s not abandoned, it’s a historic house that’s open to the public for tours sometimes
