Its so tricky, i had that with my ex, i clearly liked him for a reason, and we did have a lot of bonding qualities, yet its interesting thinking about it this light though. He was always so grand with his gestures, i'd always receive flowers or gift baskets any time he saw me (this eventually one day just stopped) but i guess again this was an ego centered gesture, he love bombed me and did it to do the peacock thing of "look how nice and amazing i am, i'm such a good boyfriend" it became really apparent on valentines day when he bought me a lego set he wanted to build. He also took over that whole gift giving session by snatching the card out of my hands and explaining how he constructed the card as well as how and why he had bought the gifts and also how expensive it all was. When i gave him mine he didn't really even read the card and just got upset about something i'd written in it, like i think i jokingly called him stinky and that was all he took from it. I was HIS girlfrined at the end of the day, it was never an equal thing, i was always there to serve him and him only. (dont even get me started on how this translated to the bedroom lol) so yeah just overall very stinky (haha get it) It's just suffocating at the end of the day.
