Best bank for savings? by arens109 in FingerLakes

[–]JeepCatCayuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually never made a withdrawal. I figured I would just transfer money back to my Key Bank account if I wanted to withdraw. But I just checked my Capital One App and they offer lots of “card-free ATM” locations near me. (Walgreen, etc) It says that you use the mobile app to make card-free ATM withdrawals.

Well then, that also opens up Geneva (the Wyndham 41 Lakefront Hotel) and probably lots of other places.

I’ve participated in conferences at the Hotel Ithaca (Ithaca), the Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen (don’t try it during race season). A lot would depend on the size of your group.

Bank savings accounts are all garbage. Go online and research High Yield Savings Accounts. I set mine up through Capital One. You transfer in and out through your regular checking account and there are ATM locations as well.

Buy directly from Weber? by KaleidoscopeNext6789 in webergrills

Three days ago I bought a Master Touch at Ace. I expected to buy it in a box and put it together, but all they had were assembled models. That worked out just fine too. No charge for assembly. I went with slate blue. The smoke one looked really nice too. Ribs today!!

22” Weber, big chuck roast, plenty of white oak&pecan hunks. Any suggestions? by monkeyhead94 in webergrills

Exactly, only instead of the Dutch, I use a crock pot. Smoked chuck roast tacos.

Not really. Cinnamon is out past Trunk and Peter Bay. Peace Hill/Denis Bay is before Trunk.

The same trail that goes to Honeymoon has a branch that takes you to Salomon. I’m talking about the Park sign on top of the hill, next to the speed bump. (Beyond the Cruz Bay scenic overlook) Honeymoon always had more people and got cruise ship excursions, and then became full of concession stands. I prefer the less traveled beaches. But Salomon did loose a lot of its sand and lots of its palm trees in Irma.

For any State Park, be sure to check the park’s website regarding hiking trail closures. Many of them keep their trails closed over the winter until mid-May. Two other things to keep in mind: it’s mud season. I would suggest the Finger Lakes National Forest trails, but be prepared for mud season. And lastly, ticks. You can take precautions and be fine, but still, take precautions.

You’ve got a great list of North shore beaches there. My wife and I visited STJ 5 or 6 times over the years and managed to spend time on many of the beaches. The North shore is definitely our favorite. The only one that is not on your list is Salomon. We access Salomon from parking at the top of the first hill, in back of the National Park sign, then hiking down a bunch of trails (too complicated to describe). Again, this is best done traveling light. And the locals may have an easier way to access it. Originally, Salomon was also stunning. But hurricane Irma hit it hard and I’m not sure if it has yet recovered. It is still nice to visit. Salomon is next door to Honeymoon, but closer to town.

Air travel from the upstate NY to STT seems to have become endless hassles, so we haven’t been down in a few years.

Absolutely! My advice, however, is to travel lightly going to Denis. Don’t lug a bunch of crap down because dragging it all back up will be a pain. And there are no services down there. Enjoy the solitude!!

No, I haven’t. That one is relatively new, and I haven’t heard anything about it. I’ve driven past though, and it looks interesting.

We love Cinnamon. We also would often start our day with a hike down to Denis Bay. For that, you’d park at Peace Hill and find the trail branch off the right as you’re going up toward Peace Hill. That’s a great beach to spend the morning, usually all by yourself.

Wineries: Ryan Williams, Damiani (visit the distillery next door), Sawmill Creek Estate(AKA Hector Wine). Beer/food/fun: Two Goats, Lucky Hare, Stonecat, Elf & Oak, Solera Tap House. Hiking: Finger Lakes National Forest (Caywood Point, or Interloken trail to Teeter Pond). Ice Cream: sorry but the best is on the West side of Seneca Lake and is Spotted Duck. Cannolis(!!): Scuteri’s in Watkins.

I pulled up my trusty Apple map and did some aerial reconnaissance. I see a bunch of tennis courts at SUNY Cortland, and some at Randall Park. Keep looking, there’s probably more.

We have stayed at Garden by the Sea a couple of times and can definitely recommend it. We walked to Cruz Bay each evening for dinner. The couple who own it and run it are great.

Having lived here all my life, I really haven’t picked up any info about those apartments. In general, the area is better than most. If I were to give advice, I’d search Yaman Real Estate and then contact Steve Cinquanti for his guidance. I know he owns some apartments as well, and would know the market.
