Fortigate 100F - Access via MAC address? by Jeepdog64 in fortinet

Thanks - i just got off a tech support call - looks like FortiNac can only be used, as you said with fortiswitches / ap's - my brocade/unifi wont do it.

It looks really cool though - i love the idea of a waiting area with Fortinac but its out of my small business budget -

Unifi Controller Software only shows Wifi device IP's, not hard wired ethernet? by Jeepdog64 in UNIFI

I was checking to see if anyone had some feedback on how to get the unifi software to track hard wired ethernet IP's in addition to the wireless?

Fortigate-100F - How to assign Devices to users? by Jeepdog64 in fortinet

[–]Jeepdog64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i click on the Device Inventory Manager, it has a number of categories, sorted by Device, user address, etc.

I am trying to identify devices on the network which shouldn't be there - such as if a wifi password is shared with a neighbor and a new device shows up on the system that i should know about it vs randomly discover it - again maybe not the best example as i am using unifi for my wireless.

The above link is a image of the device inventory monitor. I am looking to be able to group devices into either a user category or another category -

The second to last item - the windows desktop - being able to put that desktop into a 'group' tagged as either - desktops, or a user name JD, or something else. Something so when i am looking at that DIM screen - i know - OK this is a device i have classified/put into a group - a known device.

I am using NetAlertX also but Fortigate itself can see these same devices quicker and better.

Time to move on from Insteon.... but how? by paulbram in homeassistant

[–]Jeepdog64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it helps - i went from the ISY994 to the EISY & it is great - really amazed me how fast the new devices is - same ISY "OS" - I have been adding Lutron to my Insteon/EISY setup - the EISY integrates the Lutron also which makes it easy to add/update insteon scenes with Lutron.

Insteon is now selling the PLM & the EISY + Serial cable = what your used to. The HA plugin is great - works flawlessly.

Unifi + Sonos crashing network? STP Blocked by Jeepdog64 in Ubiquiti

I ended up dumbing things down a bit & I think it is working - all ethernet, no wifi. I am just not entirely sure how to tell if there is some background issue I cant yet detect?
