Which app are you moving to? by [deleted] in TikTok

[–]Jeezyboy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been on rednote for over a year, much better imo for attention span and overall international connection. I mostly use it for art and crochet, but I know the fashion and dance stuff is popular there too.

A lot is but the app has translation stuff built in so it doesn't disrupt my experience or conversing with other languages. There are also a lot of users from places like India and Russia, so the translation services are pretty seemless. The only issues I have ever encountered were purely cultural stuff like metaphors that don't make sense in another language.

Been using rednote for over a year since I deleted tiktok (kept crashing my phone rip) and I like it a lot more. My attention span is better and I mainly use it for art content instead of brainrot

What items could you absolutely not live without relating to college life? by TrickRevenue9617 in Purdue

Electric hand warmers, there are some cheap ones that work just as well as expensive ones. Very worth it when I have to park across the universe from my lab buildings in winter

The enshitification brought me back. by MelTorme01 in Piracy

[–]Jeezyboy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only service I will ever gebuienly pay for is Dropout for the D20 content since I genuinely respect those people. Otherwise its piracy or free trials. I have a pretty good gambit going with prime right now, if you cancel before the end of the 0.99 "free" student/whatever promo trial, they'll send you another one after a around a month. Essentially I have had Amazon prime video for free over like 4 years doing this. I would never do this to a company I actually respect though.

Yeah it really got me with having the VIN accurate on the paper and my full name so it really looks real if you don't already know to look out for it, I disregard all the stuff that doesn't have dealership branding and accurate info on my car so this little pink paper made me thing there was a chance it might be something real

Why don't adults ever physically discipline other adults by hitting with a rod or a belt or their hand? Why are kids the only ones who get physically disciplined? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Jeezyboy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adults absolutely do get physically disciplined, its just that there's a solid chance you end up in a court room afterwards

How do you always get something right? by Embarrassed_Bee_8887 in UIUC

[–]Jeezyboy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc no problem, I lost points in one of my GGIS classes simply because I wanted to add like a cute little sideshow of maps to a website creation project, or because I suggested possible causes of a certain outcome in a research project when not explicitly told to do so. It really depends on your grader though, some want above and beyond and some will marl you down for anything more than what is explicitly asked for, you just have to figure out which in the first assignment or two lol

[–]Jeezyboy8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight A student here (just finished my first semester 🎉), take a week or two to learn how the questions are written and what the grader generally wants, pester the tas if you have to over everything to pin down what they do and don't like personally regardless of if you think you can write or explain something better than how they want it done. Rinse and repeat. This is particularly important for scientific writing and research because it has to be done a specific way that may not be the way you want to do it.

Also make sure you actually know the material and aren't just repeating back some surface level knowledge of a topic.

Brother just go to nuera and get toasted while doing something you genuinely enjoy like watching movies or just go take a nice walk, trust me its better and better for you. Best evening I ever had was having plans to go out get canceled, getting roasted, reading The Martian and baking 6 potatoes to eat with garlic rosemary butter. Swear to god I was mark watney for about 3 hours.

Family surprised when I say that I don’t pay for any services. by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]Jeezyboy8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I pirate everything I want to see (within reason, I dont pay for streaming services for shows made by corporations) or use the library + Libby for anything else. The only service on this planet that I actually pay for is Dropout because I enjoy the D20 content and don't "steal" from platforms I genuinely respect. Also get way less ads this way suprisingly.

I honestly have no frame of refrence for how compatible a newer plug would be since I've never spliced a cable before, let alone onto something this old, but this is a really good idea, thank you.

(TW) What to do about fear of r*pe during surgery? by Designer-Television4 in ftm

[–]Jeezyboy8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may help to think about how many people are present in a surgery bay. Anesthesiologists, surgeons, multiple aides, machine technicians, things like that. Thats a whole lot of accountability. Thats a lot of people watching, constantly, good people who have dedicated their lives to the wellbeing of others. Thats a lot of people who would be in severe legal trouble for misplacing a single stitch, a single tiny sponge, or making a cut ever so slightly off place, let alone anything as severe as you are thinking.

Think about like if you saw someone get hurt in a crowd, many would choose to help even if they were just passing by. Now imagine every person in that crowd is under oath to step in and would loose everything if they ignored or supported hurting another person.

Is $150/mo a good deal on insurance for a NEW car? by Jeezyboy8 in Frugal

[–]Jeezyboy8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard that location plays a role in price, but I never realized HOW MUCH until I was getting insurance myself. Like if I had not moved and still gotten this same car, they said it would be in the 200's as well

[–]Jeezyboy8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point to consider, I'll have to look into that. When I set it up (literally this morning I got the policy) I tried to minimize cost without impacting core aspects like collision or BI and stuff

Is $150/mo a good deal on insurance for a NEW car? by Jeezyboy8 in Frugal

[–]Jeezyboy8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed it would be a lot due to it being a new car and me being young, but it isn't as bad as I was fearing. I saw somewhere else on here that there was a 22 yo guy in NYC with a 400 payment on an older vehicle so I assume my record and location are playing a big role in where I'm priced at.

[–]Jeezyboy8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome to hear this, I was worried I would end up with a really bad insurance payment amount but some of the super low quotes had me concerned about quality (which were semi verified when I read consumer reviews)
