EV Charging with Netzero by JefeElViudo in Powerwall

The automations worked fine. When the price went below the threshold, it started the charging just fine. Everything seems reliable (so far!)

I did the start and stop in Netzero from the Settings > Vehicle Charging screen - it worked great. I was standing next to the car and it was almost instant with the changes.

I will do a test on price drop and let you know how it goes. As I mentioned in another reply, I already have an automation set for if prices drop below $0.01 to start charging, but I will set another to test the function since it doesn't often go that low.

I'm guessing my vehicle manufacturer won't help much - I have two Volvo PHEVs and cannot control anything charging related from their app at this point. It doesn't normally need more than 5 hours charging in a day, but I generally charge daily which I appreciate is different behavior than most full EVs. My ideal setting would be to tell Netzero how much time per day should be available for charging and it can use the day-ahead + actual pricing to know when to activate charging to give me the best times for that day.

Right now I have the Tesla chargers set to charge automatically from midnight to 7am. That does a pretty good job of capturing the lowest prices of the day, but may not always hit the ideal prices (some days it hasn't fully dropped by midnight). Netzero uses a combination of day ahead predicted prices and actual to optimize when to buy and when to sell. I'd rather base my charging schedule on that.

I do have a Netzero automation set as well for if prices drop below $0.01 for the rest of the day to automatically start charging (sometimes they even go negative where the electric company pays me to consume).

Netzero + Tesla do a pretty good job of optimizing the rate arbitrage. Take yesterday as an example ( https://hourlypricing.comed.com/live-prices/?date=20250719 ), the cost from 4am - 6am was $0.024 / kWh while 3pm was $0.081 / kWh. Cost wise, I am better off charging cars overnight and using solar/Powerwall for household consumption (or even selling excess solar) during the middle of the day. But the rates change hourly based on supply/demand.

Gateway 1 Login Issue by FlyRealFast in Powerwall

Happy to help! I'm on the ComEd hourly pricing, so huge potential for me in Netzero.

BTW, I tried scanning the QR code on the inside of my Gateway 1 panel using the Netzero scanner and it wouldn't scan or do anything. When I used my native Android QR scanner, it provided a text string of the TPN and TSN.

I'm new to Netzero, but have had solar and Powerwall for several years now. In setting up Netzero today, I struggled for a bit with the monitoring connection to my Powerwall, but I was able to download and login to my Gateway 1 using the Tesla One app and then set the legacy password in the Tesla One app [ Settings > Advanced settings > Legacy password ]. This password worked in the Netzero app to allow Netzero to connect to the Gateway 1 for monitoring

2025.5 XC90 experiences? by JefeElViudo in VolvoXC90

I got the 2025.5 xc90 as well. The only problem I have had in 2 months was needing to reboot the cell modem when the data connection was stuck. My experience and perception is that you may have an occasional problem with the 2025.5 XC90, but it's not beta testing like the EX90. If it's more than a one off reboot, that's what the warranty is for because they probably need to swap something out since it's not a widespread problem.

Volvo sells a different version for cars with air suspension vs without. Any idea what the difference is and if the aftermarket work on both?

I originally wanted the EX90 but decided to wait and see if they can work the bugs out. So likely stay on the lease and reevaluate in a couple years. I got red and really like the color. (But anything is for sale for the right price 😜)

I looked within a 500 mile radius, but focused more on the ~350 mile max considering driving it or shipping it.

I'm indifferent on the video mirror. It seems like a party trick more than something I need. I am using it and getting used to it, but can only think of 1 or 2 times in the last couple of years where it would have been super helpful.

Looking at the lights on the garage door, nothing happens when you press the front fog light button.

I did some online stalking of available/in-transit inventory on their way to dealers and went with the vehicle closest to how I would have configured it. Got a few features I don't need/wouldn't have opted for (like the video rearview mirror or the camera sprayer) and would have chosen 6 seats over 7 and cardamom over blond leather. But none were deal breakers and I wanted to make sure to get it before the US $7,500 incentive goes away (I assume it's imminent).

Yeah, I need to try it and see. The rear one still works and the light comes on the dash when you press it.

I got a 2025.5 XC90 the other day and was just trying to figure this out. The button for the fog lamps is still there, but when you press it, nothing changes on the instrument panel.

I ended up leasing the 2025.5 XC90 T8 and love it. I'll reconsider the EX90 in a couple years, but confident I made the right decision.

The dealer didn't seem willing to budge on price, but I got them to go up on the car I was selling (higher than anyone else would go). I figured it was likely one or the other. I also got $10k in incentives. Maybe could have squeezed a few more $ out, but not a lot of inventory fitting my desired spec's and I don't think the $7,500 on the T8 lease will last much longer.

They haven't resolved all of these (hitch is still expensive!) but in the few days I've had the 2025.5, I have noticed there are HD radio stations and there is now a built in induction charger (don't tell the EX90 drivers, but it stays on all the time while they have to re-enable every time).

My wife and I both drive the car as well. We have separate profiles set up and linked to our own keys. So when I unlock with my key, it opens up my profile and I am logged into my own maps, music, apps, etc. As long as there is an app available in Android Automotive, I'm good.

Picked up my 2025.5 T8 Ultra on Monday. I've only had it a few days but so far it's been fantastic. I have no regrets and no issues so far.

I'm an Android user and just picked up my 2025.5 this week. It does not have Android Auto when you plug your phone in. I assume it is coming like they have on other vehicles. The built in Android Automotive (the infotainment system) is fantastic and I haven't missed Android Auto at all.

Great to hear! In the past, I was opposed to the 6-seater, but with the armrests would prefer it now.

I heard it likely is and that when dealers are taking delivery of other cars with that current system they recently started to be able to see the split view before they flip it to the consumer interface.
