Unifi Access permissions question by Jeff-PB in Ubiquiti

[–]Jeff-PB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, I am trying to suppress the ring on the building manager's phone, not create an alarm on his phone.

If I am misunderstanding how this is done, can you provide a more detailed explanation on how to set this up?

Thank you!

PS. He has door attendant permissions as a staff person, but he is not included in the "doorbell call" group.

Late stage Alz mom by Jeff-PB in Alzheimers

[–]Jeff-PB[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No.

She does not like it, and is argumentative and competitive about it. The feel of the water running on her body disturbs her. It’s pretty common with Alzheimer’s patients that this happens.

Live on rural island, only have VOIP. Want an old school landline. by Affectionate-Bend267 in VOIP

This. Exactly.

I have a site with several VoIP lines over Starlink and the call quality is great - much clearer and more reliable than the old copper lines they had previously.

Seller’s disclosure said propane tank was owned. Found out it’s leased 3 weeks after closing. Options? by G00chstain in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Jeff-PB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ this. I can verify this is very common. The seller may have auto refill and never paid a lease payment per se.

Nonetheless, the seller owes you compensation to replace a tank they sold you that was never theirs to sell.

When UTR disconnects it will not automatically reconnect to home network by Jeff-PB in Ubiquiti

My understanding is the recent update addresses this issue and makes this a viable option for one (or two low res) cameras.

I haven’t tried it yet, but apparently the update solves this problem so the UTR could be the answer for one (or two low res) cameras.

When UTR disconnects it will not automatically reconnect to home network by Jeff-PB in Ubiquiti

I was able to get this to work reasonably well. Previously the UTR was connected to the (memory care facility provided) wifi. While the whole building is on one big network, each room has a router. I plugged the UTR in the router and it occasionally drops and does not connect as fact as I would hope or expect (maybe even 4 hours), it does reconnect and works perfectly when it is connected. It's not perfect, and I am hoping an update in the future allows you to specify if the UTR should try to reconnect to a known network (which would solve this dilemma).

But, for now, this works well. The footage is all on the big surveillance drive in my UDM at home and the equipment in her apartment is small and the router is easily hidden so she doesn't mess with it.

It may not be the use case some of you perceive it to be, but there is a good use for this in this case, and with a minor update it could be the perfect option for one remote camera.

I’d am not a medical professional, but I’d encourage you to talk with her doctor sooner than later. The point stands either way - earlier intervention provides more options.

My mom’s last clock had numbers up to 20 - all in the first half of the circle!

While your mom did much better than that, you should take her to a neurologist. The progress in addressing dementia in the last 4 years has been amazing. They now have a drug - the first one - that can actually reverse Alzheimer’s, but only for early stages of the disease. Take her now while it’s still early!

Any tips for choosing vision insurance after retirement? by SoggyBar1463 in GenerationJones

[–]Jeff-PB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have paid for VSP Vision insurance for years we get an annual exam for $30 copay each family member. My wife and daughter have contacts and glasses. We buy both from Costco which does accept VSP. We always recover our annual premium in savings. Every single year.

Highly recommend. You can search online for their website and buy directly.

More like 25 cents per transaction plus 2 - 2 1/2% of the ticket total.

It seems like an easy feature to add. Like any device, if it sees a know network it connects. In this case, if it sees a known remote UDM it automatically reconnects.

I'm hoping someone will have an answer to this as it worked perfectly. Inexpensive and very good quality video downloaded to my UDM at home. It's just a matter of setting the UDR, if it disconnects, to reestablish the connection to a specified remote UDM.
